Syberia

Unread postby Pol » 17 Sep 2007, 02:11

I just finished Syberie 1 and it's very catchy.

PROS:
* Perfect scenario, dialogues and figures development.
* And of course graphics.

CONS:
* The figures are moving slow, so sloooow(in case that you will be having P4 machine, you will need to aplly the third patch.), turning like dead, and Kathy is having special move to recenter over every stairs. Step back, take time, do few steps, cut scene...
* Also regions are sometimes nightmare, I'm curious from where they had got that engine, looks like from some shooter. (but hey, you cannot die in that game)

(how to finish syberia 1)
But why I'm writing that is mainly because I wasn't able to make game to the final, I missed one trigger, to see the diva and Hans. So, to my astonishment, you don't need to do nothing else than once again talk with Felix on reception about where is your box, regarding fact that you are seeing it behind him. Funny, but if you ommited him, the game theatre is going without stars and you will not make it into grand finale. (which is first half of video seq, second half is your reward in Syberia2)

I loved that game. The mood, the characters, the music :) Heartwarming. You should try Syberia 2 in case you already haven't :D It had some very satisfying moments especially the ending.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

I liked it too. The scenery was refreshingly odd; if it had been normal, standard, I would have skipped watching it.

I agree that is was rather slow at certain points, though.

I'm confused Pol. You did not see the proper ending?

I thought it was a perfect ending, more satisfying than Syberia 2, which was still fun.

I also needed the 3rd patch!

If you did not trigger Felix by asking him once again about the box (after he annouced it on platform to you), then here are no calls, no Hans or Helene and game end in impasse.

As to the video scene that was nice :D Frankly whole game is having breathtaking atmosphere, with so many fountains, lagoons, rivers, birds and so much other things, it's pasture for eyes.

That graphic is something, heh, my old computer was swapping like a crazy, could be that Syberia for PDA is much less resources demanding.

And finally who would not love Oscar (so much of reminding Cryton), courageous and dare Amerzonia Cuckoos, Cossak or Momo :-D

Syberia is just a classic. ;)
(Not only that I have it from Classic Collection, where are packed both games.)

Proper ending? So which is the other ending? I only saw the one where Kate follows Hans on the train.

Not sure what impasse means, embarrassing :) I just assumed that you don't complete your mission and you get a bad ending.

I added some screenshots as I finished Syberia 2 yesterday. Here's not much to say to this, just that is even better :-D Engine would get a big plus from me and outro was, maybe shorter, than I would bear.

Syberia 2 was more like what Syberia 1 should be. At first I had not considered that there would be more than to finding Hans but later I saw that I should have seen that coming. Breathtaking scenery and interesting situations.

It took me a long time to finish on my own, the only thing I looked up was the last Yukol machine because I somehow missed the drawing on the ship.
I still can't believe it - I had searched the ship on purpose after I found nothing more on the island :disagree: I hate pixel hunting.

I consider both like one game, that's why I didn't put the number in the topic ;)

The second part is having harder puzzles and it tooks me longer time to figure a principle, so some time was spent before I get used to them. True is that if it's too much time consuming I usually have walkthrough around, to short it, my time is to precious for me.

From the point of engine the second part is a breathe. All is so fluent. Opat was and idiot and Igor a poor mad man, he ended like that. My most favourite figures from the second part would be tha monk with whom you would speak about latin ('Merula Alba' and the tricky 'femina inconcessus', although second one exists first one probably not, could be very very rare to see a white ouzel, so it's a legenday bird indeed fitting Syberia story such neatly. ) And Malka, she was promised to be taken back with Kate, who knows if that happened...?

From other point good source of information is http://www.saunalahti.fi/~amulari/syberia/, I like Kate sketches :-D

Malka was a sweet girl :) I even wonder how Kate would find her way back. Or if she even did. With Syberia in mind I got Paradise later but I was disappointed about many things, the ending being one of them.
