Mature strategy games?
Anyone know of any good fantasy strategy games with mature themes available now or in development? And when I say mature I dont mean so much with the blood, gore, and violence but with more sexuality driven themes/concepts/gameplay.
I know how most American buerocrats and polliticians feel, they tend to accept the violence and gore mature titles, but will immidiately cause controversy to games with any kind of hint of sexuality or nudity due to the general American political attitude of closed mindedness with sexuality.
I think sexuality could broaden gamplay in countless ways. Anyone know about the Game of Thrones books? Sexuality is an important role and makes for some interesting dynamics. I would love to play a Medieval 2 esque fantasy strategy game that would allow you to use sexuality for political gain, blackmail, information ect. Having a permiscious princess active with generals and important people of other factions could affect her traits and the traits of her partners and thats where information gathering, political intrigue/gain, or blackmail could happen and play a big role. Or even use prostitution and slavery as a means of income. These are just a couple examples of many things you could do to enhance games. These types of things existed historically as well so why not in fantasy games?
In fantasy there are creatures and beings like vampires and succubi that are very sexual in nature. I would love to see more of the sexual side of such creatures being explored in games. Gaining power or abilites/skills of sexual nature ect.
I really liked the dungeon faction in Heroes of Might and Magic V in regards to sexuality. But in the game, sexual themes and content are only suggestive at best. I liked the idea of a 'coven' and there was that one female hero, the slave driver for minotaurs. And of course the Blood Maidens and Witches. I really wish the game developers explored this area more.
Gamers that started on atari are getting older now and I think there is a market and craving for more mature themes in games. I think if America wasn't so riled up with political bull and we didnt have Jack Thompsons I feel we might be treated to more mature games. Look at the success of recent mature games like God of War(which has the hero act out a sex scene and can gain health). There is a market for it but I think most develepers are too scared and chicken $hit right now. America is due for a sexual revolution. I really like Japan's attitude and openess with sexuality. They have a huge amount of mature games with sexual content but usually come in the date sim format. Now if we can get that kind of sexuality into a big fantasy strategy game, RPG, or MMORPG... oh the possibilities.

Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy had two "full frontal" sex scenes... But they were not really justified by the gameplay or the scenario. They seemed to be there more to provoke than anything else.
I remember playing a great japanese RPG called Xenogears where the two main protagonists have sex. Well, it is not shown directly, but it is clear that it happened (they kiss and then wake up naked in the same bed...) I was very surprised (Xenogears is a Squaresoft game, where usually the love stories are desperatly childish)
And of course there's Fallout...

If you like Dungeon in regards of sexuality.. you might like Mistresses in Dungeon Keeper 2. DK2 is a sim-type strategy but it's heavily focused on combat (which is why I liked it).
To gain an army, you must build rooms through your dungeon. Different rooms attract different creatures from your portal(s). For example, a hatchery (for food) and a Lair (sleeping) are the basic rooms that every creature needs.. but making just those 2 will attract cowardly goblins and nothing else. Making a Library, for example, will attract warlocks, which will apart from fighting, also spend time in it researching spells for you to cast.
So.. among the wide variety of rooms, there is one called - the Torture Chamber. If you capture enemy units while they are still alive and put them on one of these contraptions, they will either die divulging information, or, if you keep healing them while they are getting tortured - join your side. But the type of creature it attracts is the Mistress. They are the S&M sex objects in that game, and will gladly enjoy torturing others as well as themselves. Although they are not durable in terms of HP, they are fast, have a very strong claw attack up close, and as they gain levels they develop long range spells (lightning, freeze etc.) Oh and they will never run away in fear if faced against greater odds.
Anyway that's just one of the many evil creatures that will do your bidding for a bit of gold and a comfy lair, but you said you wanted something sexual, and this is as far as it goes when it comes for strategy games (that I played).

The original Dungeon Keeper is so much better than its sequel... Except for the casino in DK 2, when one of your minions gets the jackpot and all your dungeon goes discoInfiltrator wrote:If you like Dungeon in regards of sexuality.. you might like Mistresses in Dungeon Keeper 2.
