Dungeon single player scenario - Defiance

Unread postby khakishorts » 02 Jul 2007, 15:19

Hi all!

This is my very first post in this forum, although I have been lurking around as a guest for quite some time now. Anyway, I'm currently playing v1.5 of Heroes V, and I've been having a great deal of trouble with this particular scenario (on normal mode).

It is month 2 week 3 ... I go up onto the surface (having beaten the other dungeon force), and I see a level 20 Rutger with an Attack of 20 and Defense of 18! To make this worse, he has 6 angels (or was it archangels), 18 paladins, around 200 marksmen, 400 conscripts and about 70 squires.

My forces were pretty much wiped out in the first turn, despite my level 16 main hero having a spell power of 24! (I had circle of winter, lightning bolt, and ice bolt as my destructive spells).

Can anyone suggest a strategy for this whole map?

Note that I have been playing heroes V for quite some time now. I just haven't really played against human opponents as yet.

Heres a walkthrough guide, not for the mission you ask, but use the links :) Though the weird thing is that is is listed under features, but when I try to find it on my own the Walkthrough link is nowhere to be seen :|

You don't need to fight the humans. Just try to survive until the wood elves come and then destroy theme. Once the wood elves are dead, you shall win the scenario. Attacking the humans is risky because if wood elves appear just a day before you destroy the humans, you won't have anything to fight the elves.

P. S. Always buy just half of your units in your capital so that it can defend itself if a minor army comes!
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

Thanks Sauron. I'll leave the humans alone and wait to see what happens.

I could ask AS whether this should be relocated - the link to walkthroughs is in fact at the top right of the page, and not in the features section. I don't know why this alone is separated.
