Are Titans good or evil in nature?

Unread postby UndeadHalfOrc » 30 May 2007, 18:30

The Heroes games place them in control of the goodie wizards but in the Might and Magic games they mercilessly kill any adventurers within their line of sight.

They are reffered to as "murderous" and "bullies" in MM7.

And in the Ultima games, the most prominent villain is a Red Titan - the Guardian.

So are they good? Evil? Neutral but just want to kill stuff because they're so powerful?

Looking at our one, they are neutral.

I see them as persons who do not care about much anything else than their own ego. Are humans evil when they kill a bunch of bugs? Are titans evil when they kill a party of heroes?

Is the player evil when he's killing zounds of neutral creatures in his way just to complete a silly quest for a reward? ;)

But I've always imagined titans as cool bad guys.

They are artificial constructs in the Heroes univserse and as such it's the player controlling them who is responsible for their actions.

And I couldn't care less what wikipedia has to say about Titans since every gamemaker are free to decide every creatures alignment.

They are neutral in nature but they who control and command them can go either way of the morale. it depends.

You're right, i should have used a more worthy subject for comparison then humans, so you can properly evaluate their worth.

Titan that turns into a Black Dragon instead of a wolf though. Thus ending the debate about which is better. :D ;)

@O_D: LOL.

On topic: I think it would depend on the individuals, as with humans. I’d say the ones allied with Bracada would be (mostly) good, while the ones in the Titan Stronghold would be evil seeing as they stole the Perfect Bow.

The stronghold titans had dragons as pets and as it was said: how can someone having pets be truely evil? Maybe they saw the Perfect bow as a weapon of mass destruction and took it from human hands for safekeeping?

I suppose titans to be neither good nor evil like most of creatures in HoMM world and their factions. (Angels kill so are they that good?)
Wizards/Academies are both good and evil - like any other faction they have own aims and prorities to achieve.

Titans are good as long as they are on your side ;)

dragons are better, imo. titans take ages to boil, and even then, they take a lot of salt and spice to be good.
