Let me call your attention to a fairly new map that has not yet appeared here. It is "Lyonesse" (or "Lion's Nest") by Sarvi. I must say it is one of the very best Large maps around. The map is laid out such that more and more is revealed as the game develops. Most impressive was the pacing of the opposition, so that virtually every battle was a challenge. You can get it at maps4heroes and I hope someone will contact Sarvi about bringing it here.

UPDATE: Angelspit points out that the map is available here as 'Lionsgate'.

I'll second that Caradoc, also one of the most interesting and enjoyable maps I have played....despite getting beaten. (If only H4 AI was this good).

Now it's under the name 'Lyonesse' here too.

Hmmm... Playing as orange (Stronghold). First ever time as Stronghold!

Just on regular 'Hard' mode. I think the start is way too fierce. I'm 4 weeks in and I feel like im another good 2-3 weeks from being out to break out of the neutral garrison. Considering is a very small starting area and capped at earning 4k a day. All I'm doing is clicking 'End Turn' again and again. Boring. :-/

Is this similar to other people's experience of this map start, with orange?

Aha! A week later I the inferno smashes through with neutral gate with 2 armies, both bigger than mine. I lose.

Sorry to be a bit bleeding heart, but this isn't the normal 'curve' I have experienced from other maps.

I can't say I can recommend this map.

I think they're speaking in the context of a single-player game.

As for multi-player, I remember there's a fair amount of players on Game Ranger.
