expansion as a separate game makes patches still necessary??

Unread postby milel » 10 Apr 2007, 12:34

Can somebody help me please? I thought that installing Hammers of Fate would bering the main game up to speed with the latest patches. But this is not true...They paly as two different games. Do I need to install patch 1.4 in order to fix the bugs for the main Heroes Game??? I bought both the main and the expansion together cause I wanted to enjoy the latest version of the game from the beginning...

Also, one question. I am close to finishing the Haven campaign and was wondering whether it is at all possible to defeat Agrael with Isobelle just after I send Godric away. I have captured the Inferno town using Instant Travel (which doesn't always seem to work) and have amassed a great army for Isobelle, but Agrael always defeats me (just..)

Thank you!!!

Yes. If you want to play the original campaigns (or simply play with the original executable), then you need the 1.4 (and 1.41) patches. If you plan to only use the HoF executable, then you only need the 2.1 patch.

Wait. I didn't know this as I haven't tried HoF yet. Are the original campaigns not available under HoF (like for example, the RoE campaigns were available also under AB or SoD)?

That's kinda stupid. So if I own all 3 games (TotE included), I'll still have to instal patch 1.5 to play the original campaigns, patch 2.2 to play the HoF campaigns, and who knows some 3.1 patch, because of who knows what bug in the TotE campaigns?

If that's the case, I hope at least TotE will come with all the patches included. Meaning, although standalone, when installing to detect previous H5 versions in the sistem, and apply the latest patch for each of them.

That's minimum of what they could do. Of course preferably would be if the previous campaigns would simply be available from the TotH menus - for those who have the games installed on the system.

I wonder is there's even Dwarf town in TotE when you have HoF......

Of course you can play both of them..

You have H5 v1.0
and H5HoF v2.0

Updating them is separate.. but not necessary at all... (highly advisable tho)
