The New Economy of Equilibris

Unread postby Angelspit » 30 Mar 2007, 14:32

<a href="http://equilibris.celestialheavens.com"><img src="/http://equilibris.celestialheavens.com/ ... ex_tmb.jpg" align=right vspace=10 hspace=10></a>There is a <a href="/viewtopic.php?t=4863">long-running discussion at the Round Table</a> about how the Heroes of Might and Magic IV economy could be improved. As Dalai explained:

<i>"It's no secret that economy component in HoMM-IV is a bit weaker than in HoMM-III, for example. One good example is Mage guild building. In HoMM-III it required a lot of resources. In HoMM-IV it doesn't. It's not an overlook, because in HoMM-IV mage guild is useless without heroes who are able to cast high level spells, and building such heroes requires a lot of effort, unlike in HoMM-III."</i>

The <a href="http://equilibris.celestialheavens.com">Equilibris Web site</a> contains a screenshot showing the first results of their work in that area. Feel free to join the debate.

I hope they are a bit more careful when this is ready. If I read the image correctly, a person can exchange 4 wood for 5 ore. Since the other images indicate 8 wood for 5 of a rare resource, I assume the usual wood/ore = 1/2 others ratio continues. Thus, by trading back and forth between wood and ore, I see the ability to get arbitrarily large quantities of either (and therefore of everything).

Of course, if this is just a mock-up, then no problem.

Wood is also the most plentiful resource, at least when maps include water. Something else to think about when changing the economy.

GOW
Frodo: "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."
Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
