The Long Awaited Cooking Game Thread

Unread postby asandir » 28 Nov 2006, 00:05

Well, it's taken a week or so, but here we are

The basic idea behind this "game" is to have people post a pic of some food they have conjured up and then have the community vote on the one they like the best. "Best" will be pretty arbitrary because it could be presentation, favourite dish, bribery, whatever. In any case after a suitable preiod of time a winner will be announced and then we move on to another round.

let's start with rules

1) A member can post only one entry for each round of the competition, feel free to add some description, and multiple photo's of the same dish are allowed.

2) Voting will occur after the I announce an end to the entries for a particular round, then people can vote once and once only for whichever dish takes their fancy, I will tally the votes after a sufficient period of voting has elapsed, and announce a winner.

3) Round winners will posted into the second post of this thread, I will update after every round.

4) The Judge's (me) decision is final and no debate will be entered into, in the case of any disputes.

5) The poster must have been involved in the cooking of the dish, no google image results here please.

6) TT can win a round, unlike Caladont.

also please bear in mind that this isn't a spam thread, and might also not move as fast as some of the other games. I would like the game to succeed and to do that, will need the community members to participate.

So enjoy.

And I will even start the ball rolling with this little number!

Image

sure it has been posted in the photo thread before, but as long as you had a hand in cooking it, it's fair game!

EDIT: for Kalah .... that is some slow cooked roast lamb, roast potatoes and beans all smothered in gravy YUMMY

What's that, steak with potatoes and brown sauce? mmmm.... :yummy:

All right, I'll toss in my breakfast: pancakes with bacon and blueberry jam - the ultimate breakfast experience.

I think we need more then 1 judge. 3 would be ideal, but i can live with 2.

And where's the rule about having to have cooked the dish in the pic?

The voters determine the winner, the Judge is there for disputes and things like that
And where's the rule about having to have cooked the dish in the pic?
It's here:
The basic idea behind this "game" is to have people post a pic of some food they have conjured up
It wasn't specified as a rule, but I have cleaned up the rules to avoid confusion

alright, we've gone a few days without any additions, so will call a wrap on round 1!

NO MORE ENTRIES FOR THIS ROUND PLEASE, SAVE 'EM FOR THE NEXT ONE.

Onto the voting

this is what we have:

Vulnevia with her own version of sushi
Caradoc with his texas special (though I have my suspicions)
TT with what looks like a chicken and cheese dish of some kind
Kalah and his gourmet pancakes, and
Me with the Roast Lamb, vegies and gravy

so, have a look, pick a winner and post the name of the person you reckon has the dish you like the best .... you can judge it how you wish, degree of difficulty, personal preference, whatever

If you feel you must, you can vote for yourself

Ok with the choices being:
Vulnevia with her own version of sushi
Caradoc with his texas special (though I have my suspicions)
TT with what looks like a chicken and cheese dish of some kind
Kalah and his gourmet pancakes, and
Stefen with the Roast Lamb, vegies and gravy

I would have to vote Kalah in first with a score of 9/10. Nice appearence, love the things included, and artistic vision.

Next would have to be TT and Caradoc Tied with 8/10 (so this was not an easy choice). Same as above, only a little less fond of the included food.

Vulnevia would come in next, simply because I personally don't like sushi much at all. Excellent presentation and style, great set up, just don't like sushi myself. 7/10

Now Stefan 6.5/10. I am sure it taste great and all, but sorry I personally didn't like the appearence of this dish. Maybe it was the presentation, or the food involved (only thing I like in this is the vegies) but this one I doubt I would even try to eat. I appologize for the score, but I know you can take it :).
Warning, may cause confusion, blindness, raising of eybrows, and insanity. Image

Bah!

just a single vote is all that is required, although I don't mind if you want to expand on the reasons for the vote .... so 1 for Kalah then

;)

*votes for Texas delicacy*

Nice presentation, fresh color combination, and tasty meat and potato(?) colors. Artistically, it also excels in matters of little (and rather cute) pig presentation, great camera angle, good-looking plate, and nice knife there too :D

Caradoc +1

:| Great, voters can't even tell what food it is... oh well, it's not like they choose presidents better.

And why doesn't english differentiate between white and yellow cheese?!

That looks more like a mouse to me.

Confession time: I swiped the grilled rat from a photoshop contest. Did not expect to get votes. Just couldn't resist it.
