Dungeon Campaign....strange cutscene ?

Unread postby Nom1fan » 20 Nov 2006, 19:32

Hi every1 !

I've got a question concerning the plot of the game in the Dungeon Campaign... I just finished the third mission; it is the one you fight the Soulscar and their demon allies.

In the objectives, it says to conquer all cities and crush the demon allies.

I did that, and suddenly I got a TOTALLY weird cutscene which presented an argument between the main hero and some assasin concerning a "Burning Mirror" - an artifact or some sort I presume...which he says is behind The Demon Sovereign's Idol? :/

Then, our main hero (Regael? can't remember for sure) says something about being "one of those beasts" in the past?! O_o or something like that... and then he does some sort of spell, and we watch The Demon Soverign yelling at Veyer for failing and telling him to go back and be successful this time....

Then , in the next mission we are suppose to pursuit Veyer , because we don't want him to catch queen Isabel?!

excuse me for the language, but WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?! wtf is the burning mirror, why do we want it? who was that assasin? WHAT were we in the past? and why do we give a damn if Veyer catches Isabel or not?....

Sorry for the long post, i'm just REALLY confused as you can see...

I mean little glitches like in the Necro campaign where Malkir (or whatever his name is) says in audio "The Lich's Garment" and in writing it's "The Vampire's Garment" is one thing...but this.. this doesn't make ANY sense at all.

Thanks in advance!

If I remember correctly, the mirror was a way of comunication and it allowed aaeglr to see what demon sovereign is planning. The assassin is one of the many troops under aaeglrs comand, and isnt that important.Aaeglr was one of the soulscar before and was conscripted by the demons to spy on isabel, thus he fell in love with her.

Or you could always play the rest of the campaigns.

(Note: aaeglr= Raelag/Agrael)

The assassin was the Soulscar noble that was captured. I agree that that map was confusing, with lots of stuff suddenly introduced and then never seen again. As DL said, the mirror allowed aaeglr to spy on the Sovereign, got wind of his plans to capture Isabel, and decided to do something about it.

wait a second...

"Or you could always play the rest of the campaigns"

what do you mean..? am I suppose to be so confused and the details that will solve my confusion reveal in the future ? in the rest of the campaigns..?

"I used to be one of them..." and the resemblance of the names...damn, I think i've spoiled myself the twist in the plot lol...

they're the same guy aren't they... Tieru did some strange ritual at the end of the Inferno Campaign to strip Agrael of his satanity... it made him a dark elf..didn't it ?:(

They uh...were kind enough to let us figure it out ourselves. There were a few plot holes if you watch REALLY carefully :devious:
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Who me? ;) Well, seeing that more important aspects of the game were left unpolished or downright badly implemented in the original release it is small wonder that such omissions took place.
Hoping for something better in HoF! :beg: :hoo:

Oh well..that's too bad, the plot is a very important thing when it comes to HOMM games... that and the maps are almost the only thing that's dynamic...

Meaning, everything else (models..magic...artifacts) is Editor-Made in a constant pattern... an Haven Castle will always seem the same as the next one, as well as any other faction's castle...and windmills will always look the same...etc..

Unlike other RPG games where things change entirely..no Tavern looks exactly like the other, and cities have huge differences, even if they are mainly controlled by the same race.

so, although HOMM V does a great job with the graphics and the atmosphere, and makes the experience between maps seem almost completely Editor-Less, it still doesn't have the variety and "freedom" if you will, that non patterned games use..

Thus, it figures an interesting plot will save this repeating feeling by creating great swists and interesting progressions...

I'll keep playing ofcourse, and hope I'll be surprised for the better.

Thanks everyone.
