Random Map Generator Problems

Unread postby PlanesWalker » 16 Nov 2006, 20:42

Didnt any else notice that the generator dosnt create "Allied Maps"? WTF.

I bought Heroes 5 for the Hot Seat Multiplay and i frequently play with friends.

The Heroes III Map Generator allowed you to select teams before the map was made. How come the H5 Map Generator dosnt allow you to do this?

Software is supposed to get better over time not worse. Ubival please fix the generator to create allied maps!

It is not very hard to assign allies using the map editor or by text editing the game files.
Before you criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you'll be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes.

It would certainly be better if the programmers could create a utility that allowed the more basic things that users are likely to want, then have those users chase things in files and the like, better PR too .... shame again

I've tested maybe 80% of templates and it just don't produce HOF new items like dwarven treasury ect , only crypts , vualt of mages and elemntal stockpile were in maps , didn't even see a pyramid...

I really hope this is becuase the templates were made based on pre hof version and new templates can be made to include these things or this is one HUGE screw up.

I'm really sorry to tell you this but: wait for a couple of patches, we've learned that this is the way to go for Ubi and/or Nival...

hey i know this is off-topic but this post seems to be the latest one and i wanted to get a quick response (sorry, i'm just damned impatient). Where are the strategy guides that used to be on this site? they were a great asset when trying to decide how i should level up my hero but i seem to have misplaced them. Anyone?

Some comments.
The addon adds 7 new pdf manuals to the folder "Editor documentation". One of those is an RMG tutorial and it might pay to have a look into it because starting the rmg out of the EDITOR allows a more tuning at start.
It looks like the "amount of water" preset has been dropped for this release (it is in the game, but has either been disabled or put out for the time being), but will be put in again, probably with the next patch. Readme for patch 2.1 says this (among others):
- RMG now creates better imbued and balanced maps
- RMG: Certain bugs in map generation now fixed

I know and use the map editor to make allied maps, but why is this step nessasary?

Like i said, Heroes III did this like 7 years ago, why cant Ubival create a finished game without it needing patches?

Anyways, for the record how are people currently making allied maps? I want to be sure im making them right.

Thanks.

Also,

What do all the Templates stand for?

It would be nice to understand, since the RMG Tutorial says nothing valuable.

Templates are predefined things such as amount of towns, mines of each type but most importantly the location and distance between these things.

The TOH players use some of'em in Heroes III to create random maps that have f.e wood and ore mines close to the town and a central area with lots of treasure.
