"After a storm the survivors of the "Figgy Duff" ship landed on a large
island far beyond the mapped areas. They quickly realize that the island is inhabited. There are elves and barbarians present as well as survivors from previous ships. Ruins of old cities indicate that there was an ancient civilization there. And - last but not least - a new threat of the undead arises."
hat's how New Found Land, an extra large Heroes IV: Winds of War map, begins. It's the first map to be posted on this site in 2006, and the release of any map by Ururam Tururam is an event. The very innovative mapmaker manages to push the Heroes IV editor to its limits on all of his maps, and this one is no exception. If you would rather play the original Polish version, check out UT's map site.

New Map: New Found Land
Heh, and as always I wait for the players' feedback! Any comments welcome. You can send them to my e-mail on post them in this thread on the CHRT: http://www.forumplanet.com/strategyplan ... id=1821588
By the way the largest feedback I got from "The Saga of Depierelles pt. I", and this is because there are a lot of riddles and mazes inside and players cry for help. Is this the only way to make them write the mapmaker?...

New Map: New Found Land
Well, although I haven't played much of it yet - trying to finish the Winds of War campaigns.... as someone who lives in New Found Land (or Newfoundland), I have to say I'm impressed. Loved the authentic names, the Figgy Duff, etc... can't wait to explore the rest of my home in one of my favorite games.
Good job on the research, I'll have to try your other maps as well - this is the first one I've ever downloaded - mainly because it looked so familiar as an aside - the people who made the Babylon 5: Crusade series once used the island of Newfoundland as the continent the ship visited in some episode - can't remember which one, but that always struck me as funny too...

Well, that was my dream - this map played by a real Newfoundlander.
The story behind it is quite simple - I love the songs of the band Figgy Duff of Newfoundland (nonexisting now but its members and friends are still active). Impressed by the climate of these songs I decided to make a scenario...
