Knight of the Old Republic (1, 2, and the Old Republic MMO)

Unread postby ThunderTitan » 16 Oct 2006, 22:14

Both games had a great story. The second one, even without having a huge twist and having a butchered ending, was the best story-wise.

I'm really hoping for a 3rd instalment. Screw midichlorians.

I've just played the first one and I'm still on Taris!

But you can play it about 3 times since there are 3 classes (Soldier, Scout and Scoundrel). Each offers a different experience and works better with different party members at times (though some party members are just too good to pass up).

Currently playing as a good Soldier with Bastila (ofcourse!) and Canendrous (had to use him now). Will use the robot after that. I'm completely lightsided (haven't gained any darkside points and do most what I can to get lightside points).

Haven't gotted a lightsaber yet...Bastila works better with the Twohanded lightsaber I found. She OWNZ with it! Man I love the sound the lightsaber does.

Getting anxious to try a Darkside Scoundrel :o[ Slow, choke, insanity, Force Storm! Aaaah good things :D

Actually, I started out as a Darkside soldier but I didn't had the heart to kill innocent people :( I bet TT doesn't got those moral problems though

First one is good, but can't touch the 2nd.

I offer one piece of advice Campaigner: don't go on FAQ pages looking for help or the game be spoiled for you, if it isn't already.

The 2nd one might not be worth buying coz of the bugs, but if you can borrow it the story is worth it. if only for how annying Kreia is.

No, i save my morals for the real world. Which in retrospect probably got me more trouble then it's worth.

I prefer the light side, but playing as the dark side in the KOTOR series is way more satisfying. Force Crush is a nice way of dealing with someone who politely says "no" to you.

KOTOR 2 is great. I hope the restoration patch gets finshed soon.

Kreia is annoying but she has a lot of great quotes. She's kind of like Dak'kon from Planescape: Torment but not nearly as good.

I hope Neverwinter Nights 2's story is as good as KOTOR 2 and Planescape: Torment.

Ow, I love both games and as said havent Kotor 2 too been butchered it would be the best of them, and I hope Kotor 3 will avoid the same faith, crossing fingers there. I wish a wider ending in it to and more planets to visit.

Topping Torment will take some serious effort.

I didn't think KOTOR 2 was too bad and I preferred the ending they had over the real ending.

The one where you don't actualy get to know what happened to most of you companions?! The original ideea was that you'd get multiple endings for most of your crew based on your decisions. And the lack of the Droid factory was disspointing if only because HK-47 didn't get more lines.

The original ending was omitted due to time constraints and was not-open ended; your alignment was inconsequential to the fate of your crew. I'd much rather know that my companions' fate was influenced by the decisions of the Exile.

I agree that the droid factory was a bit lame. HK-47 had some great lines though, such as when you ask him about love.[/url]

Please, i listened to all the sound files a long time ago. And your companions did kill one another under certain conditions. They we're killed by Kreia under one, surviving under another, with Kreia and Handmaiden having a moment at the end. There was also an explination why you don't die when you kill Kreia (with the Force link and all)

I just finished the first one. A very enjoyable game despite a couple of minor gripes. I am interested in the second one but the bug reports are scaring me off. I noticed a patch 1.0b on the lucas arts web site. Did that patch help at all?

Anyway the first game is done well enough that I might go through it a second time.

I don't remember experiencing major bugs with the second game. I played it a while after it came out, so I guess I was using the last patch. The main problem is the botched ending.

Good information Angelspit.

I've been reading up on it a bit and it appears to have switched to a different developer...and to have been released very quickly after the first one. Both of those are things that could lead to a sub par game...but people seem to like it...I'll probably go ahead and get it.

Even so it was still obviously bugged worse then the original. Adn i'd say that the ending is more not there then botched. Except Hanhhar and the red-haired merc chick the rest of your allies aren't even there.

I remember a major bug that would have been gamestopping if I hadn't had a backup. It occured right after the cutscene where you arrive at where the Handmaiden is from. My companions just stood there at the arrival point instead of what was supposed to happen to them. I reloaded from a slightly earlier point and everything worked the second time.

I did enjoy KOTOR2 a lot in spite of the bugs I encountered.

GOW
Frodo: "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."
Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

Star Wars: The Old Republic

That reminds me when Origins gave up on my precious Ultima single-player games.

I'm really curious wat Bioware makes out of an MMO. I hope they make it as deep as their singleplayer games :)!

Soon there will be only MMO's made for the PC :disagree:
No matter how powerful one becomes, there is always someone stronger. That's why I'm in a constant pursuit of power, so I can be prepared when an enemy tries to take advantage of me.
