The lands surrounding the Circle Sea are filled with riches and you must fight the other kingdoms that are trying that grab them. It's a multiplayer map for 6 players, so try to bring a few friends together over a LAN.
The Elven Lord by Uzbek is the first Heroes V map to go through the maptesting service. It's an extra-large single-player scenario. The map was made available at Elrath earlier with positive feedback, but Uzbek sent a new version our way for finalization. Give it a shot and contact the mapmaker with your suggestions.

New Maps: Circle Sea, Elven Lord
H4 was a disgrace. Bring on the H5 maps!
New Maps: Circle Sea, Elven Lord
It goes into the Maps folder. Try launching the Map Editor first and opening the map from there, that works fine for me. It looks like double-clicking the map itself messes things up.

I got the 'New Master' map from Elrath. And for some reason I had to edit the map properties with the editor. All I did was change the name from 'a new master' to New Master, and the the game would see it.
I don't know why that worked, but it wouldn't see it before that. It might be the same for 'The Elven Lord'.
And personally, lol, while H5 is pretty to look at, it mostly sucks. H3 and H4 are still way better.

New Maps: Circle Sea, Elven Lord
I started playing Elven Lord and I have to say I am very disappointed. The starting hero has the ultimate ability Nature's Luck from Day 1. You get 4 hunters cabins, 3 faery trees and 2 military posts close to the castle, there are 2 gold mines guarded by 35 Ancient treants each which i took in the second week. Another gold mine guarded by some poor griffins. There is no challenge. You get too much money and too many troops right away and once you go through the garrison you get 10 more dragons as if you didn't have enough already. I got bored quickly after that. I like a good challenge and i like to build up my hero towards the ultimate ability. This map takes both these things away from me. There is nothing to look forward to. So i got bored quickly even before meeting the other AI players and found my way toward the exit button.

New Maps: Circle Sea, Elven Lord
There's no "Maps" folder in my H5 directory. Where's the Maps folder?

On the other hand, "Circle Sea" is fun. Unlike most H4 scenarios, you get a quick start even on Champion difficulty. It's better to play it versus human than AI opponents, of course. It should have been smaller, though. Still, aside from a few misplaced artifacts and no elevation tool, I have enjoyed it so far.

New Maps: Circle Sea, Elven Lord
We enjoyed playing "Circle Sea" immensely. And we disagree that it should have been smaller. We love huge, extra-large maps. We completed "Circle Sea", but there was still large areas we never got to on our first playing. We plan on playing it several more times and exploring the areas we missed. We rated it a 10.

If you have played any of the maps (I have not yet, I just started working on a map myself), especially one by a new mapmaker, send him an email with constructive critisism and ideas for making the map better.
I remember very early in my mapmaking career (I had finished my first map (HOMM2-Great Shaking) and was playtesting my second when someone volunteered to playtest my map and we became good friends.
He gave me very useful suggestions on that map and on how to make the first one better. He wound up playtesting the remainder of my HOMM2 maps (I made 6 XL HOMM2 maps in all) and I am a much better mapmaker because of his input.
So if you playtest a map whether or not you like it, try to see it through. Take detailed notes and correspond with the mapmaker. You will help him to become better and then you will have better maps to play. And remember that the mapmaker may have different opinions than you and may not change everything that you want changed.
