Crusaders and Legends

I was wondering about the two spin off games:
Crusaders of Might and Magic and Legends of Might and Magic.

I was curious where they fit into the whole M&M 'story'? What world/continent do they take place on. Is there any connection to any of the other games?

As far as I know, the 'of Might and Magic' in the title is the only connection.
A cat is fine too...
