These Inferno creatures were in such a haste, they didn't even find time to occupy seperate tiles.

Heh.. Ultimate gating, is it? "All squares will be occupied by double amount of creatures" sure sounds like Nival's grammar.

Well,at least it shows that nightmares are too small to be 2x2 creatures.

Does that also mean that if the Angels or Griffins attack they will deal damage to both Infernals?

Ah,but that would require additional work in order to make different animations when the creature gets pinned. And we dont want to torture our hard working developers with such measly things, when they have more important stuff to do,like changing the icons for creatures.

cool pic.

i cant understand why they cant make 1x2 creatures. i mean, they figured it out for H3, why not now? o well, maybe in an expansion (probably too big a change for a patch).

HIII used hexes,so the unit could always stand in the same two and just had to face in 4 directions(front-back coupled with up-down).But now there are squares. And if a unit is pinned between a rock and an attacker,it turning to face the attacker would make it go throught the rock. This one can be prevented by adding additional attack animations, but like I said,it would be additional work for the developers.

Actually, it's the 3D, not the squares that's problematic. In h3, the creatures were always aligned in the same manner, but that would look odd in 3d.

I think Cavaliers, Paladins, Unicorns and Nightmares should only be 1x2. maybe Modders can do this.

Hm... if it is just ONE paladin then sure it is 1x2. If it is 20, then probably they can be simplified as a block like 2x2.

I always had a hard time imagine how can 1K units all fit in one tiny square. Do they stand on top of each other?

Reminds me of the mini game (stacking to reach the helicopter) in Taiko Drum Master, PS2. :D

Will people ever stop mixing fantasy with unreality? Those two things are completely different.Fantasy has its own rules, its own reality and follows it rigidly.Stacks are just models, representations.Thats why I hat turn retal. Its a bad model of reality.

changing their size might blow off the balance because each faction has 3 large creatures

That is an interesting look at things - what if a future HOMM game made larger stacks take up more space? Sounds promising, but it might be too limiting after a while. Maybe it could only go up to a certain point, like once you reached 500 skeletons, they would take up 1x2, once you reached 5000 they would take up 4x4 or something crazy like that. But on the other hand, what would you do with 1000 black dragons? Still...an intriguing thought.

Its just a matter of the BF size and creature cost.If the BF from HIV was increased, that one couldve been easilly implemented. And it is a good idea, imo.

But then low lvl creatures could block high level ones from getting to those pesky archers until the archers kill 'em all.

So?You never heard of a platoon of soldiers sacrificing themselves so that they would hold the enemy long enough for their comrades to escape,or prepare the defenses? And the bigger the stack of those left behind, the more time rest of the army has.
