How do I edit the .xdb files?

Okay I believe I am suppose to edit them in word or note pad.

I did that, but when trying to save it tells me that it is denied.

All I am trying to do is give the spectral dragon a slight boost, yet I can't edit it at all.

I think I am missing an important step or maybe a couple of them.

You can't save because the file is set for Read-only. Right click on the file, select Properties, uncheck Read-only. You can also select a folder and change the Read-only attributes of all files in it.
