Rivals, Champion

1 attack crystal, 1 defense crystal, 1 speed crystal, 1 mp crystal, 1 arena, 1 level up tree.

You play Mongo the barbarian in the might campaign. Mongo starts with all 4 combat skills and basic nobility. I recommend buying scouting from the war university south of your starting town. Turn Mongo into a ranger with high archery skill, grandmaster pathfinding, and basic stealth.

You can't hire other heroes from your town, so send out a couple of lone berserkers to help scout and pick up resources. The two gnashers you start with are enough to get the ore pit, east, sawmill, west, and outpost town, southwest.

You have to beat your barbarian rival, orange in the northwest. You also have to take over both life towns in the south. Get harpies and cyclopes in your town. Get rid of orange first so you can get extra troops from their town.

You lose if your starting town is taken. So early on you may want to leave outpost undefended to lure purple into occupying it. Have a thief hide near the town to stop the enemy army from leaving. Take the town back after you beat orange.

In the southeast corner is a well guarded grove with stat boosting crystals and a level up tree. Try to get in there before you finish the map. Also try to buy order magic, for precision, and life magic, from the life towns.

Ore was scarce. You won't ever get any more FGs.

Here's my Journal:

Week 1, Took the sawmill on day 1. Mongo and 2 FGs can't beat 41 trolls w/o losing one FG. The 47 trolls guarding the ore pit cost me 35 berserkers and 1 centaur. Took Outpost on day 6.

Week 2, took out 4 companies of bandits in and around their hideout. One of my berserkers found a Bag of Gold (500). Mongo and his 2 FGs slipped in and took Northhaven. Gave up Northhaven but captured Pine River.

Week 3, put together a big army with a knight but still having trouble finding easy battles.

Week 5, confronted Purple's best army and won but with serious casualties. Hold Northhaven again.

Week 6, took the Orange stronghold. Defeated the Orange hero.

Week 7, Several purple mines are guarded by a company of pikemen and scores of ballistae. Despite causalities, started working through those, mostly for the xp.

Week 9, lost maybe half of my army breaking into the SE corner. Pulled out of Twin Pines in hopes that Purple would move his main force there. Cleared the SE corner, need to visit the Coliseum of Might and finish.

Week 10, Mongo reached L15. Took back Northaven. One to go! Won @3,2,6.

I had Mongo, a L14 general, 1 thief and 3 order lords. My 56 Cyclops were the strength of my army.

The Great Wall, Champion

2 attack crystal, 2 defense crystal, 1 speed crystal, 1 altar of combat, 2 combat school, 2 arena, 1 level up tree.

You start with 1 might town on this map. To win you must control all 3 life towns past the wall in the south. To get past the wall you must take over the 3 sawmills west of your town. After getting the sawmills 2 catapults will appear in your town. Take the catapults to the rally flag south of your town and a hole will appear in the wall.

Speed is very important in this map. You get a 2 month time limit after crossing the wall. You should open the wall as soon as possible and start taking over the life towns. The longer you wait to attack the more time purple has to build its army from 3 towns. Purple also has a catapult factory near its middle town. Use a secondary hero, a thief, to take over the factory and buy as many catapults as you can.

Ideally you can get purple's main army to garrison themselves in 1 town. That way Mango will have some time to gain some levels and explore the map without purple getting too strong. When you are ready to end the map use the troops from the 2 other life towns, catapults, and cyclopes to defeat purple in their last town.

Remember, you can try some hit and run attacks on purple if they have too many shooters in their town. Have Mango drink an immortality potion and bring some 1 unit meat shields, before attacking.

Finally, I don't recommend trying to get the stat boosts in the northwest grove if you are playing on expert or champion. It would take too much time to get an army strong enough to fight past the gargantuans.

-----------------------------

There are 3 level booster sites but one is beyond the hardest battle on the map.

From my Journal:

Week 1, Going east first was a mistake. Significant progress to the west. Hired an order lord on day 7.

Week 2, received another FG at the start of the new week. Day 5, I claimed the third sawmill and got my 2 Catapults. How can I beat scores of Ogre Magi?

Week 3, my plan is to wait to open the wall until I have conquered most of my side.

Week 4, only one H&R required to reach the Arena.

Week 5, Cleared all but the Gargantuans in the NW and the Cyclops in the NE.

Week 6, Open wall @ 2,2,4

Week 7, 2 month warning @ 2,3,1. Took Lakeview and Highgate.

Week 8, Lost Lakeview but took Westlake.

Week 9, 29 Dark Champions chewed up my modest army. Reloaded and took in my 3 heroes for a H&R. Two heroes died but Mongo won the battle gaining L19. I got unlucky, the two artifacts along the wall were a Hideous Mask and an Amulet of Fear, redundant. The 44 Catapults guarding the gold mine are too difficult.

Week 10, Took out Purple's largest army. The Thieves Guild estimates their army strength at about 15% of mine. I could finish up anytime. Mongo took out 113 Genies alone.

Week 12, defeated 36 Gargantuans, serious casualties.

Week 13, 2 week warning! Recaptured Lakeview. Mongo reached L22 at the Coliseum of Magic. Defeated Purple @ 4,1,4, about 10 days to spare. During the end game Mongo just traveled with the 2 supporting heroes and some harpies (for movement).

Party Crashers, Max 28

1 combat school, 1 magic school, 2 arena, 1 level up tree.

You start in the northeast with 1 might town. You must control Riverview Castle, in the southwest, to win the campaign. Get harpies, cyclopses, and thunderbirds for your town.

A bunch of champions block the road south of your town. You can beat them easily using hit and run attacks. If you reach it early enough Mongo alone should be able to take over the southeast life town.

There are two main threats on this map, the bounty hunters and Sir Dannos. The bounty hunters are a bunch of level 17 heroes who are usually traveling together. You will need a big army or have to wait until they split up into smaller teams before fighting them. Sir Dannos is a level 30 hero who starts in Riverview but will start moving around. Dannos starts with a large army of champions and catapults. Beating Dannos is possible, but unnecessary.

Since you win this campaign as soon as you capture Riverview it is easiest to just have Mongo sneak attack Riverview. Wait for Dannos and the bounty hunters to get distracted retaking one of the other towns and have Mongo rush Riverview.

------------------------

From my journal:

Week 1, Claimed the ore pit and Forest Glenn on day 1. Took the sawmill on day 2 and launched H&R to take out 7 of 39 Champions. Hired an Order Lord. Took 6 berserkers for the second attempt and killed 11 before running. Third attempt on day 6 cleared the last 22 Champions.

Week 2, Took the southern Haven, Hired a priest. Clearing mines.

Week 3, Killed 14 of 61 Champions. Mongo, an Order Lord and 5 squires killed 9 Megadragons for two nice artifacts!!! Mongo, an Order Lord and 5 squires defeated 47 Champions.

Week 4, Mongo and the monk defeated 53 Efreeti for the xp. Mongo got 89% of the xp, reaching L23. My Order Lord crossed the bridge to the north. Purple sent 3 armies south. Bought up the troops and evacuated via caravan. Some bounty hunters took my haven.

Week 5, Picked off a L11 Paladin with a small army. Took back my haven for one turn, got 12,000 for a surrender. Mongo, alone, defeated 16 Megadragons (there was a reload or two) to get two great artifacts.

Week 6, took the northern haven. Mongo defeated 90 Genies (trivial).

Week 7, I could win this week, but Mongo is only L23. Defeated 3 bounty hunters in front of the southern haven.

Week 8, Couldn't take the southern haven, but defeated another 4 bounty hunters (with 17 Catapults) with moderate casualties.

Week 9, Actually got a useful H&R killing 10 Champions. The plan is to continue H&R on the southern haven until my best barbarian army can take them.

Week 10, H&R 5 Catapults and 5 monks. Slipped in and took the southern Haven unopposed.

Week 11, defeated Sir Dannos!

Week 12, trekked back to Graceville to pick up Teleport for Mongo.

Week 13, Hit the other Coliseum of Magic and then finished of Purple. Won @ 4,1,7. Mongo reached L27.

The protagonist of the Dragon killer storyline, Dracon, sets out on a mission to become the greatest dragon killer in history. To accomplish this, one must track down and kill.
