Hey y'all,
Long time no see.
I've recently dug out HoMM IV, which is my favourite, but have been unable to run it in widescreen mode. Adding
xres=1920 yres=1080
after the 'target' path in properties no longer seems to work as it did under Windows 7 (and my laptop won't run that version anyway).
Does anyone have any tips? Would be much appreciated.

You probably know it already... it is impossible without gaining game sources from ubi or reverse-engineering of game binaries for many years. Maximum supported resolution is 1280x1024. Stretching is the only possibility.
Re: Heroes IV widescreen on Windows 10
In theory it's possible with EquilibrisHD - but that wasn't yet released. They redraw the resources to fit in bigger resolutions. There's no known schedule, when it will be out.
Situation is further complicated by Dalai being out of reach, for some time by now.

Well...that's exactly what I was asking about above.Bersaglio wrote:You probably know it already... it is impossible without gaining game sources from ubi or reverse-engineering of game binaries for many years. Maximum supported resolution is 1280x1024. Stretching is the only possibility.
It's not the only problem I'm having with the game - animations in battles are also weird, kind of clunky when it comes to archers shooting (arrows/projectils have a sluggish travel rate) and melee fights appear to be almost instantly resolved, like the animations are skipped.
Is anyone else experiencing these?

Thanks, Karmakeld.
His problem is exactly the same as mine, even if it's on different systems. Pity there's no real solution to be had. Although on an unrelated note I was happy to read that HoMM IV is his favourite HoMM game as well.
