Despite expressing their desire to remain independent, Ubisoft Chief Executive Yves Guillemot said yesterday that "the company would consider takeover bids from major Hollywood studios", according to French newspaper La Tribune. "This could speed up Ubisoft's development," Yves said, before suggesting that Ubisoft may consider merging with another publisher with equal standing in the industry.

Need I point out the irony of this? I'm sure it was only a month or so ago I reported a flurry of articles stating Ubisoft's stance against a hostile EA takeover. Perhaps they're just making a big corporate statement: We're not gonna be bullied into anything. Fair enough...
