I think we can safely say that in the gaming calendar, 2004 was the year of the FPS. Jozef "NetDanzr" Purdes has summarised (fairly comprehensively at that, considering the size of the review) last year's games and talks in detail of the state of the industry. Most notably, he speaks of the increased commercialisation of PC games, EA's burgeoning piece of the market and the general demise of RTS, RPG and, with the exception of Rome: Total War, TBS's.
It's an interesting, retrospective review and, in the context of events surrounding the HOMM series over the last 2 years, I think it gives us something to chew on whilst we wait. Read it on
