The MMO The Secret World just went free to play (have to buy the client though), after catastrophically low sales following the launch this summer. I've played it since beta, and along with other steady players can't understand why it doesn't attract more people, as it's a very good and interesting game.
Main attractions: modern day horror setting ("Everything is true"), with great atmosphere. Classless freefrom character development. Steady stream of new content and improvements, despite the company having had to do major cutbacks in staff.
I can recommend it to anyone who like this sort of thing, and would like to see more people playing it.

Re: The Secret World - now free to play
Haha, it's just a guess but I think it's because not many people know the game very well (I'll confess, I didn't even know it was an MMO to begin with - I thought it was some kind of a role-playing game like Final Fantasy), and seeing that it's an MMO, I think it definitely needed better publicity to stand out from the crowded genre.I've played it since beta, and along with other steady players can't understand why it doesn't attract more people, as it's a very good and interesting game.
But then again, it's not a very big surprise either, even if it is (or was) publicized well, since most MMOs go free-to-play these days, regardless of popularity. It's the new trend, really.

Almost 10 mil people that like to pay a monthly fee are playing WoW... never understood why companies think they can compete with an 8 year old community and content.
