The conversion feature in action ... provided you have the resources to pull it off, you can play "Queer eye for the straight guy" and toss out all those filthy curtains.

Actually, the Haven fort looks more like a castle than the Haven Castle/town. At least seems more secure.

Hmm, what? Now that we finally have this option besides a mod like WOG. People frown about it?! "Bah, not good enough, not important" Snob, snob, snob. Its an option, thats the beauty of it
Now the town window, now THATS something I agree upon. That just pure heresy against the series, not even H4 were that edgy concerning town screens/windows :O

Indeed. You have the option not to convert, so you may hire the current different faction units. I didn't test it, so I can't say if you'll still be able to hire units from your other castles in a single one, in case you have, say, 2 heroes with different armies visiting the same town. You can see the different faction seals above the window, which you'll skip from one to the other, so it might mean you can hire all units you have at your disposal, even when you don't convert towns to the same faction.
My concern on this feature is more regarding the AI, that will surely convert everything and in the end you'll be fighting the same foes all the time, conditioning you to find a counter-party that will blast away the enemy far more easier than having you worried with multiple sort of enemies.
I like the feature for humans. I just worry for the AI part. Dunno if that's an issue actually...

Um, what's stopping human players from doing that? That would give them an advantage, forcing the other player to convert everything as well, equalling a bland game.Panda Tar wrote:My concern on this feature is more regarding the AI, that will surely convert everything and in the end you'll be fighting the same foes all the time, conditioning you to find a counter-party that will blast away the enemy far more easier than having you worried with multiple sort of enemies.![]()
And I never liked that addition of WoG, either, but at least there you have to spend a few weeks actually demolishing the town and then a few more rebuilding it, so it was fair.

The real problem arrives when your opponent starts to convert your towns and you have to convert them back again ....

In War: Resolution, In Defeat: Defiance, In Victory: Magnanimity, In Peace: Goodwill.
Yes, that's a problem as well. I think the creature growth is too high, even when settled to be slower. 2 of the same castle will have much more advantage than usual, me thinks. Perhaps if you can't hire all at once at the same castle would make it better to balance if you choose not to convert.GreatEmerald wrote: Um, what's stopping human players from doing that? Since I haven't played WoG, I cannot compare expertise. But surely taking days and days to destroy and having to rebuild everything back is far better than converting it (with all dwellings and the rest) out of the blue.
