Heroes 6 beta bugs

Unread postby ThunderTitan » 02 Jul 2011, 13:04

Yeah, i know most people will just use the official forum for this, but frankly i dislike how it functions, so i for one would rather post here.

To start with:

- it appear that if i activate v-sync the mouse cursor graphic starts being lower then where it's actual functioning pointer is, deactivating v-sync doesn't fix it until you restart the game;

- there seems to be a big problem with the graphics loading when you Load a game, it takes a few dozen seconds for everything to show up, leading to sometimes seeing a floating helmet instead of the whole hero, as stuff just appears in stages... and sometimes the whole screen goes white for a fraction of a second, like if you where using a photography flash...

- The ability to move the camera using they keys comes and goes each time i start/load a game, both on the adv map and the BF;

PS: On a more personal note, does anyone else find the heroes too small on the adv map? Sure they're a bit more realistically proportioned, but i'd rather be able to see them better at max zoom.

What, we can discuss the beta?

I've had a lot of bugs with the beta, ranging from graphical ones (enter combat and all the terrain is greyed out) to functional ones (in one of the campaigns, I had a button in the hero portrait [don't know which - looks like a purse, on the bottom left-hand corner of the hero screen] that caused a crash every time I clicked it, probably because I didn't have a town). The beta as a whole is very buggy so far. I hope the developers can improve that.

Sometimes I can't use W and D to wait and defend in battle either, and even though I pick up items like Scroll of Chain Lightning the spell never appears in combat (or if I need to equip it, I can't equip it at all).

There're lots more things to say about the game, but I'm not sure if I should say them.
I'm a hypocrite because I suggested that all life is sacred and should not be wasted without good reason.

Well it's a public closed beta now, and youtube already has video of it all over... and from what i can tell the official forum has plenty of thread about it in areas you can see without even login in.

Of course if you still have the old internal build you should upgrade: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/ ... 3241070439 (same user works fine for me).

You should read the NDA stuff if you're wondering what you can actually discuss. Certainly, releasing pics of it is probably not allowed. ;)

Then someone needs to inform HC: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=35712 http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=35719

And the beta forum is accessible by anyone: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/8611048239

Someone should inform HC.
NDA wrote:3. THE RECEIVING PARTY ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE GAME HAS NOT YET BEEN COMMERCIALLY RELEASED AND IS THUS HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL. THE RECEIVING PARTY AGREES THAT HE OR SHE SHALL NOT DISCLOSE ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THE GAME (AND/OR ANY OTHER CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION) TO ANY THIRD PARTY.
So I suppose bug discussions are OK. However:
NDA wrote:5. The Receiving Party's obligations under this Agreement with respect to any portion of UBISOFT's Confidential Information shall terminate when the Receiving Party can document that such Confidential Information: (a) was in the public domain at the time it was communicated to the Receiving Party by UBISOFT; (b) entered the public domain subsequent to the time it was communicated to the Receiving Party by UBISOFT, through no fault of the Receiving Party; (c) was in the Receiving Party's possession, free of any obligation of confidence, at the time it was communicated to the Receiving Party by UBISOFT; (d) was rightfully communicated to the Receiving Party by a third party, free of any obligation of confidence, subsequent to the time it was communicated to the Receiving Party by UBISOFT.
I don't know if "public closed beta" qualifies as "public domain"; I'm no lawyer.

That's for the internal beta... seeing how this one is entry by pre-order and they're discussing it freely on the official forum, including posting screens, and you can access the info without an account or anything there's no NDA anymore...

It's not like they can cancel our pre-order if you blab... especially since it's not them that handle that, but the stores.

Upon more testing this isn't because of the v-sync, it's simply from changing Video options... after doing it the cursor isn't right any more...

- The ability to move the camera using they keys comes and goes each time i start/load a game, both on the adv map and the BF;
And this might be because the keyboard commands themselves aren't working... if i can't move teh camera i can't take screen-shots either...

Of course it's allowed. Discussion too. There's no NDA on this beta, you and I were both told that verbatim by one of the developers. HC is hardly the only "offender" - in fact Celestial Heavens seems to be the only fansite without any hype, videos or info posted up already.

Thought so. I told Kalah that there doesn't seem to be any NDA connected but better to be sure. :D

One of reason why there are not screenies already is, that it's having problem on my multimonitor setup. Let say if you rotate monitor, you will never get connected to Conflux and start the hype. :devious:

And there are still many graphical artifacts, what you are guys doing? ;)

If there's no NDA on the beta what was the NDA that I had to sign before being given access?

Standard procedure... and it's very likely that they just didn't bother to change anything since the internal beta when it comes to registering your key...

Plus, everyone and tehir grandmother is already discussing the whole thing everywhere, including Ubisofts forums...

And use this thread already (mods, ow about moving some of the non-bug related post there too): viewtopic.php?p=316049#316049
