Can't patch my 3DO version of HOMM 4

Can someone please give me a reason why I can't patch my newly installed older game of HOMM 4. Installed it is version 1.0. I have downloaded all the incremental versions and everytime I start it stops and says,

PATCH ERROR

Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match.

Anyone????????

Just confirming: you have read the FAQ and this page?

Make sure you have the right language version.
Install the patches in the right order.

I bought this title from Amazon.com - I did not know there was a different version than US. I will try the registry edit and completely un-install and re-install just to make sure as well; before I patch.

Sorry it's been awhile since I played this game and I assumed it was a Windows XP problem. Used to play it on Windows 2000. I have been going crazy with the sound loop issues.

The first patch takes care of that, fortunately. I remember playing my first few games with the sound off, which was a shame.

Why, oh why, are there so many different versions of the game to begin with?

I had the UK version, who knew there were separate patches, Jezz!!!!!!!!!!

I can fully play now thanks so much - Next off to get the stand alone Arcomage game.................
