Compatibility testing website?
Recently I was surfing through cyberspace when I came upon a website (I think there was a link from gamespot.com but I'm not sure) which tested your computer for its ability to run a current game. There was a drop-down menu, and HOMM 5 was an option, and I guess the website scans your computer and tells you what/if you need to upgrade.
For some reason I didn't save the website, and now I can't seem to find it using all manner of search engines and scouring gamespot and other HOMM 5 sites. Does anyone here know of such a website? I found it very useful...

Actually now I'm not sure - that site doesn't have HOMM 5 on it (that I can find anyways) to check against. Other games but not HOMM 5...

As AngelSpit said the specs are not final yet, but Nival and Ubi mentioned that they would focus on a broad range of pc specs as possible, including 3-4 year old computers.davidtaylorsmith wrote:Here are my specs:

I'll try to make an rough judgement
Processor - Intel Pentium 4 2412MHz
Display Card - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Memory - 512MB Uh, Im a bit unsure here, think you will be able to run the game on low or medium settings, maybe something set up on high. If you have the money, the advice is to buy more RAM, 1G of RAM will surely be enough for the game but anyway you can never get enough RAM. So I think with 512 in ram your computer may be on the limit of how well it can run the game.
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP
Free Disk Space 92.81GB
Display Card Memory - 128MB Not sure here, it may require an 256 card memory but I feel that 128 is enough, an silent yes from me.

I'm trying to figure out what type of upgrade would help my computers performance the most when it comes to gaming. The three options I am considering are:
1) RAM - I have 512MB but could have up to 4GB (4 slots of 1024 each)
2) Video Card - have a slightly old 128MB one - could update to 256 or 512 even
3) Processor - have a slightly old 2.4 GHZ Pentium 4
The only problem is - I have no idea what will help me the most. Any suggestions? I realize they would all help, but I want to know what the priority should be. Also I have whatever crappy sound card came with my computer - thinking about getting a new one of those too....
So many things to spend money on!

Well the RAM upgrade sounds the most promising (a 300% increase), but it counts on what video card you have. More memory doesn't necesarly mean a better card. Also your processor should still be good enough for a while.

Ok - thanks guys!
I will probably get some more RAM (can I just a 1024MB in beside the 512 I have?) and maybe a sound card, and see how we do whenever this game actually comes out!

Well you could just upgrade ur RAM to 1GB or 1.5 (that way you can buy one 1024, which you can also use later if you go to 4GB), and upgrade the rest later.
Like I said, the card and processor should do for now.
EDIT: You can fit the RAM, but I belive you have to make sure they're the same "something or other", don't recall right now.

Ok great - I think that's what I'll do - thanks!
Edit - Yeah I think there are a couple different pin configurations or something (PCI and something else), which I better get the right one.....
