Are you going to buy Heroes V?

Unread postby Derek » 06 Mar 2006, 23:55

I was intrigued a long time ago when I started a thread asking what was coming that was new in Heroes V. Throughout the course of the thread Corribus asked, quite bluntly, who was going to buy or not purchase Heroes V. I have decided that since the beta has been released, and because people now have a general idea as to what will be in the final product, a question of this nature is much more appropriate now than then. So, without further ado:

Are you going to buy Heroes V?

For the record, I am not going to. I could go into detail, but I think it is unnecesary for the purpose of the topic.

I don't like it until now and even if I am to buy it I'll wait for a "light" version.

Yes, I'm a hopeless addict. Maybe it will suck, but I have to see for myself. The beta doesn't really give us a look at the AI or mapeditor, which are my main concerns.

HodgePodge has an excellent point though. I am hoping that a strong firewall and good virus detection software will be able to stop attacks even if Starforce can't be made safe.

Me, blunt? :what:

I voted yes, assuming my computer will run the final version. The beta was touch and go.

Which brings me to another point, and that is - you may want to distinguish the "no" category into those who are not going to buy it because they don't think they will like the game, and those who are not going to buy it because of hardware issues.

But I dont like starsuck, since I take backups of my games to my own private bacup, so I dont destroy my cd-s, have done it before unfortunately the game was bran new and I didnt get a new cd from the store, resulting to buying a new game of the same one
Starsuck is one of the most anoying programs that is.

I am still undecided. On the one hand, I'm an ardent Heroes fan, but on the other, issues with Starforce and the overall feel and look of the game (mostly what I consider tacky creature design) cause me to waver.

I am going to buy it, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to be anytime this year. The main reason is the price: I'll wait until it gets less expensive. The game itself doesn't bother me at all, I don't care how different it is from others or how similar it is to others, and as for Starforce... it sends a little chill down my back hearing all the negative talk, but I don't care that much about it.

I think the overall point is to just find out if they are going to buy it, not for the reason that they have decided to do so. It is a valid concern, but not the purpose of the topic.

I was a no, but then I figured that $50 (US) isn't a lot of money to me and I'd just waste it on other stuff anyway. As a big fan of the series, I owe it to myself to buy everything. No matter how far down the HOMM food chain it ends up in my mind.

I am abit unshure of the final product since 3DO has done all other Heroes games and since ubisoft took over, and aint the best makers of games, after my opinion that is.
But a true fan of Heroes series I aint letting this one down

Well then, let me say that without offering some sound reasoning, this topic is rather useless & boring! :snore:

You have something against letting people discuss your poll? If reasoning doesn't matter to you, then just read the results. They're shown at the top of each page of the thread.

FWIW, if you were to create two threads on this (i.e., one to vote, one to discuss) a moderator would combine them anyway.
