HOMM2 vs. HOMM3
HOMM2 vs. HOMM3
Since we had the 3 vs. 4 posted again... I thought it would be neat to get into a historic debate...

Heores 2, even if I played it less than 3. It had this special feeling to it that H3 kinda lost.

Yeah, I agree. Yet, for some reason, I still think Heroes 3 is a better game. I guess its Nostalgia. That, and Heroes 2 was so much better than Heroes 1, and Heroes 3 isn't as great over Heroes 2. It took me quite a while to "warm up" to Heroes 3, but Heroes 2 I warmed up immediately.ThunderTitan wrote:Heores 2, even if I played it less than 3. Gunnar>all.
No contest. Heroes 2 is the greatest computer game ever. The ONLY thing that I liked a little bit more about H3 than H2 was some of the capabilities of the editor. But that's it.

I voted for III, because my first thought was that it fixed everything I didn't like in Heroes II. After a while with III, though, I did realize that it lacked some of the feel of II. So I trade off between them, now.

Voted H2
I agree with many players that in many cases, H3 has much more potential, offers some advances (which were good enough to put them to H4 without big changes) BUT I just love H2, and despite it's "more primitive" in mechanic than H3, has it's unique atmosphere and all H2 game elements fit each other perfectly.
H2 is similar to H3, however, the emipire-developement style is diffrent and I like it very much. What's more, despite weak animations like fire (but consider it was made 1996) the graphic side is wonderful and fractions IMO are more varied than in H3 (in H3 all seem to be too similar).
Finally, my adventure with H2 hasn't finisged yet and in free time I always play one scenario, whereas H3 is hidden somwhere between my cd on the shelves...

The music in H2 is so superior it's no contest. In many other (but not all)
aesthetic terms H2 has H3 beat. But there were so many irritating gameplay
flaws in H2 that H3 fixed that I had to go with the latter. For example
Champions in H2 were virtually worthless on turn one because they couldn't
wait nor could they fly. When my gaming buddy and I tried a H2 map for
old-times' sake, we had to quit a month in because of all the stuff which H2
lacked. But H2 still has some fond memories for me despite the fact that
I very quickly took to H3 and wasn't disappointed with it in the least...

Voted Heroes I & II since they were my first Heroes games. They were both so exciting & even though I play Heroes III & IV more now, I remember how I just couldn't wait to play Heroes I (and then Heroes II) as soon as I got home & with such enthusiasm too.
For me, I don't think another game will ever produce such euphoria.

Woted Heroes 3, but H1 and H2 is a flashback when playing
in Heroes 1 you got these gigantic creatures in battle
Heroes 2 is slightly better looking and in the expansion you got the keytent you must personaly remeber the keyword (or cheat wright them down)

II is the better one. In mine eyes it is the third best PC game ever, only MM 6 and 7 are better.
It's better than 3 because:
The music.
the feel of it.
the factions are really different and don't only look different.
It's mor challenging.
The magics are better.- Only Dimension Door was better in H3.
The campaigns are better.
H3 is better in:
The skip command.
map editor.

H3, without a doubt.
Having started with it, Nucleon finds it very difficult to retrograde to H2.
Looks? H3 is infinitely superior. H2 seems cartoon-like in comparison.
Music? H3 is dreamy and delicate, where H2 sounds too keyboardish, althought Nucleon did like the opera bits a lot.
Choice, strategical options, map editor and variety? No contest here.
Those who still prefer H2 to H3 do for sentimental reasons, Nucleon guesses.
