IMO general bonus would be better (no unlimited identify magic items, but for example +6 to ID item for all characters).

The Merge includes the patch in its files. You don't need to install a second copy of the patch, assuming we're talking about the Grayface patch. Gold idea is nice, would make them annoying, but not at that level. You probably can, but IIRC there are 2 slots only and I was too lazy to test if after those are filled monster can't steal.

How about virtual machines? They're resource hungry and annoying to set up, but once you do this you should be able to play without problems and you'd not have to switch all connections between machines.
