i say Vampire lords..though archmagi and crusaders can offer alot as well.

Even though they are kind of slow i pick naga queens

minotaurs ,gorgons and thunderbirds are backbone of their own respective armies...like all three fo them but my pick would be Master genie thanks to its speeed and casting ability

Would go with centaurs or gnolls...

Knight+Cleric+Mage 4th could be Ranger (has good start..probably easiest quest for avancement+hidden chest in Tul.forrest got good equip exactly for him,can be secondary healer ,good with bow chain and axe) ..or Monk (opposite of ranger..slower start but after you combine grandmastery of staff+unarm...
