I haven't been on the forums for more than 6 months, but recently came back just because it has been a while since I played H7.
Some months ago Trial by Fire was going for $6.99. Back then I was sneering, it'll be $3.99 soon, and that is when I buy this buggy expansion. After all, I'd gotten the main game for just 9.99 USD.
But guess what? Now there is no way to get Trial by Fire for even three times my preferred price. The lowest is 16 euros, and even these are limited offers. A more common price is 24 euros and up.
Does Ubisoft know how to do business at all? When you have something crap, the best way is to sell it at a low price, not raise the price above what it was commonly going for.
If Trial by Fire was patched to perfection like Heroes III was, I would certainly consider 24 Euros seriously. But no way in hell anybody would buy an infamously buggy expansion of a game that is now off-support, at the price of a full original game.
I just played 1/3 of a game on H7. Lots of bugs, so I can't finish the scenario. My main hero is a logistics specialist, level 4 logistics, got all the perks like extra movement on home ground. Then suddenly her movement points got cut from 38 to 25 permanently with no pathfinding and no ability to get increased movements from visits to structures. The secondary heroes were all moving faster than my main hero because they still enjoyed things like logistics perks on home ground and stables visit boost. Restarting the game and and loading earlier savegame didn't help.
With this kind of experience, how am I expected to pay 24 euros for the expansion? My first heroes game in 7 months and already it is ruined by bugginess. Within 2 hours I am reminded of why I stopped H7 gaming to begin with.
