There are two reasons why the early games of the Heroes series are still being played today. The first is the amount and quality of player-made maps, which increase the games' longevity. The other is the possibility to play against other human players. One of the ways in which you can do that, is through Tournament of Honor. This year, the ToH site turns 12.

Yes, its been a dozen years now since the Tournament of Honor opened up on this domain, and in time for the launch of Heroes 3. Those were the golden ages, with a great multiplayer system, and the microsoft gaming zone being a perfect portal to meet & match up with players. 12 years later, we wait eagerly for Heroes 6, and hope that the multiplayer will truly be balanced and user-friendly.

ToH was established after H3 came out, aiming to offer a more competitive multiplayer challenge for the players by the use of a ladder ranking system. Since the multiplayer feature of H5 was rather poor, the need for a user-made substitute has been great. All signs point to the MP system being improved for H6, and excitement is high before the upcoming release.
