Actually, genies are very good in large numbers. I almost never use nagas. The genies Ice Bolt is deadly.

Genies are my favorite, Nagas are okay too, with their many armed attack & no retaliation, but gimme Genies anytime. As for going against Ice Demons, it is true that Ice Bolt has no effect but how about Song of Peace, Slow (even though Ice Demons are already very slow) or Create Illusion.

In large numbers, Genies' Slow spell becomes Mass Slow … soooooo in my humble opinion Genies rule as third level Academy creatures.

I agree with HodgePodge; genies have so many advantages that I don't remember ever using Nagas.

Yeah, and i mean how often are you gonna find Ice Demons on one map? If you have a lot of them to kill, then what the heck i'll take the nagas, but genies are long-range and have many uses.

IMO it's more about balancing your army than picking the stronger one. I personally hate golems, too slow to make a difference in any battle and plain not worth the gold, so I use mages but that makes me 1 melee creature short so I use the nagas to balance it (this works best if you're planning to use titans as they're both ranged and melee unit - with no penaly)

I see your point, but you can also balance it out the opposite way. Mages are great, don't get me wrong, but Gold Golems, as slow as they are, pack a big punch attack and health style. I'd rather have a stronger spellcaster(genie) and the weaker melee walker(gold golem). Besides, a strong hero can always protect the genies. I feel that mages are very well-rounded, but they clearly lack health and melee damage. With a large stack of genies, every turn is a nightmare waiting to happen.

Oh, i just took a look up there, and G. Golems aren't that much slower than mages. Mages have 5 haste, the golems get 3. They both have the same movement, but the golem has more than 3 times the health and more than twice the attack of mages. If they had to fight, the golem would certainly win. Gold Golems are mechanical, which means spells like Poison don't work. And if perhaps you find a good spell to hit the golem with, he's got 75% Magic Resistance to back him up.

But, hey, use the mages. That's what its all about anyway - using your favorite creatures.

Order creatures are the hardest pick...i find i leave the second level creatures when i can anyway...mages are great when you get a bunch of them...but they are always targeted and its hard to keep em....

I tend to use all ranged stuff and magic bolters when i can...but golems and nagas are very useful when you have to use em.

For me Nagas are useless i always choose Genies which are somewhat overpowered(havent played eq version)

The Titans are cool and the halflings are serious killers when they defend a town.

I usually tend to pick all ranged units. So its mages, genies and titans.Just if I conquer a second order town I consider taking golems(never nagas, though, since having an enormous genie stack is always better). With 70+ genies,I tend to split them(its 1 and the rest at first,so the one can cast slow/song of peace, while the rest attack, but later its two equal stacks).Though I hate genies in equi, since they make evil sorceress obsolite, and make you too powerful since you get the benefit of both mass fervor and mass slowing your opponent.

Evil Sorceress is Caster or Teleporter, but not Walker.
