What is the point of the armageddon spell? For your hero to be hard enough to use it he would have had to be with your main army all game, and therefore surely isn't worth sacrificing..... mind you my tactics are pretty lame for this game....

It can be in certain situations.. I will gladly sacrifice my 20 black dragons if I have only 50% 'penetration' rate, to wipe out an entire army

Ideal Armageddon situation in this game seems to be defending a town with a lone stack of upgraded Hydras or Treants and casting repeatedly Armageddon against a 7-stack attacking army.

It is sometimes possible to calculate the enemy losses from such a spell. As long as at least a small enemy stack survive, they can then be blinded or puppet mastered, while you ressurrect your casualties.

BTW - this is also the time when LOTS of mana is required, to answer another thread on "why so much mana when spells are so cheap".
We will either find a way, or we will make one. Emperor Hannibal.
