essonite

Cinnamon Stone is a variety of garnet, belonging to the lime-alumina type, known also as essonite or hessonite, from the Greek hēssōn, inferior, in allusion to its being less hard and less dense than most other garnet.

geez, that'll change things around if we have to go back and redo from there!! But rules are rules

EDIT: hang on though, aren't extns of words ... bore -> boredom, for example, only dissallowed if used right after each other?

so if someone had used erst, and then theGryphon wrote erstwhile straight after that would be a problem, but since erst was used well before, shouldn't this be okay?

Firtstly Bore and Boredom have different meanings.

As for the second one, we'll have to wait and see what DL says.

Well, as long as he didn't just put 'while' on top of 'erst', I think it's okay. The words are actually slightly different. Erst is an adverb and means 'at a previous time'; Erstwhile can also be an adjective and mean 'former'.

At least this is what I understood from http://www.thefreedictionary.com/erst.

I say let's go on:

GC,you are techincally correct. The best kind of correct.

However, since erst is just an adverb, and erstwhile can be used as both an adverb and an adjective,it is allowed.

Athough, this argument cannot be used in the case of read, because it is the same in all its forms. The example above is,lets say unique, and should be used rarely,or Ill just change my mind :devious:

fenestrate

Words used:

iamb,ambidextrous,trouser,rousers,ersatz,tzar,arachnoid,Identity,tykes,kestrels,
Else,seen,entice,iced,cede,derailleur,eurythmics,c-section,ionize,zen,zenith,nithing,
things,g-string,stringers,erst,stalwart,warthog,hoggishly,lyceum,Eumycetoma,tomahawk,
Hawking,kingdom,domesticated,tedder,derby,bystanders,erstwhile,whiles,less,lesson,
essonite,niter,terrible,bleed,educational,nalmefene,fenestrate
