Keep telling yourself that that's a rational excuse for illegal activity. If you say it long enough, you may actually believe it.
There are numerous goods for sale all over the world that most people can't afford. I have things I want that I can't afford, I'm sure most other people do too. But seeing as the things I can't afford aren't really things I need in my life, I accept it. Even though there are rich people that can afford said things, I don't think that justifies stealing them.
If we were talking about life necessities (that a great number of people in the world sadly lack), it would be a different story.

Who the hell locks these things?

An idea occured to me, and I think I had it formed even before I started reading this thread: they're just games... Why do people give them so much importance? Is it really worth paying for them? On the other hand, is it really worth going through all the fuss to download them, apply cracks, risk (however small the chance) being caught, know that what you're doing is essentially wrong and unfair towards the game makers, reagardless of any socio-economical aspects?...
But the implications of this question are well beyond the topic of this thread...

I love how people had no problem supporting 3DO when they bought Heroes 3, but as soon as they don't approve of the direction Ubisoft took with Heroes 5, they label them as a "monopolistic company" that doesn't deserve to make any money.
Like I said, the connection between those that don't like H5 and those that condone illegal activity are one in the same. Amazing how that happens to be.

I do believe what I am saying. Don't worry.King Imp wrote: Keep telling yourself that that's a rational excuse for illegal activity. If you say it long enough, you may actually believe it.
Let's think real.
Yes, it is illegal activity, just like dealing with drugs, stealing millions, murder, rape, etc... But can we put piracy of games in poor countries, in the same cathegory with these ? I don't think so ! What do you think, how high is the amount of financial losses caused by piracy, for game producers in these regions ? Almost ZERO. They know (or should) that games with the actual prices, cannot be sold here. With or without piracy the profit they realize is way to small to be significant. This makes piracy a very HARMLESS crime.
Honestly, how many times did we do illegal/immoral things in our lifes ? Most times we just say "It is harmless", "It is nothing" or "Everybody does it". When driving a car do you ALWAYS act EXACTLY acording to the regulations ? I know nobody who does so. Is this simillary harmless ? No. People could DIE !
What I am trying to say is, that noone of us is completely innocent, therefore it is hypocritic to call people criminals (or krimals) for minor illegal activities.

Moral varies from person to person. You know that some people find it immoral to eat meat, for example.Bandobras Took wrote:Wrong. I would not. I actually have a sense of morals, even if a majority of the world feels it's irrelevant. And of course if you declare that morality is irrelevant, there's going to be no "evil." But I disagree that morality is irrelevant here.
Spoiled brat?Tsk,tsk!I think you should really question yourself before you say something like that next time.King Imp wrote:Not being able to afford a game, or anything else in this world, is not excuse for being a thief. Suck it up and accept that you can't have certain things you spoiled brats.

Yup, people really hate not paying for crappy products. The fact that they can get it for free must make them very mad for throwing away all that money....King Imp wrote: Like I said, the connection between those that don't like H5 and those that condone illegal activity are one in the same. Well that makes everybody wrong, because ur disregarding someones morals and feelings by simply breathing.Bandobras Took wrote: I think that sums it up for me: a complete disregard for morality and the feelings of others is wrong.
So if i have 2 computers i'm doing something illegal. If I instal the game on a Laptop to take it with me when I leave my home it's ilegal.Bandobras Took wrote: I just looked at the Frozen Throne EULA, and it allows you to put one copy of the game on a computer. It also forbids renting or making money off of having the game on your computer. It forbids having multiple copies of the game on different computers.
And the EULA isn't legaly binding anyway as you only sign it after you actualy pay for the game.

Something I've noticed is that poor people (located in 3rd world) are defending piracy while the people in the western world are condemning it
I want piracy to be destroyed forever, (In one of my posts on the Nforce forum I wished FBI good luck in shutting down the release groups) but as long as it exists and people get things for free then I want a piece of the action.

From my knowledge, there's no such thing as Yugoslavia anymore. I think it's called Serbia, but the people living there are much more entitled to tell us.
Anyhow, I don't think you can compare that area of Europe with, say, Somalia or Rwanda or other tiny African nations where's there's been hunger/war/disease for a long time.

I doubt the USSR was considered a 2nd world country. Being a superpower kinda prevents that.
I belive the word is developing country.

Its serbia and montenegro, for the time being. And Im not sure were a 3rd world country.True,we dont have much of an average income(about 150-200$),but most of the people arent starving, and have a roof over their heads, and I think that is what separates 3rd world countries from the rest.

Maybe you ought to look up a term next time before putting your foot in your mouth:
