WH40k: Space Marine

Unread postby ThunderTitan » 13 Aug 2010, 09:57

The end of the video just made my day: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/synop ... 000/702805

Let's hope they don't reconsider... i might even buy it (when the price goes down of course).

Is it just me, or the slashing with a chainsword like with an oridinary sword was really weird?

OTOH even if the PC version will come out, I don't know whether I will purchase it. The demo would definitely help (which is more of a dream, since demos are now quite rare).

Well how else would they work?!

But it does need a more "heavy" animation to capture the epicness of chainsaw-death...

Nah, my IQ got savaged enough by Transformers... but i'm willing to watch a clip on the internet if you want to post one.

But seriously, it's still a sword, so swinging it in the same pattern as one isn't the problem... it's that it looks like he's swinging a piece of foam. The animation needs to look "heavier".

It is a sword, however it is a sword with running chain.
Take a look at DoW2 intro at 1:04, that's how I expect the chainsword to work.
Not to mention the assault marine in the DoW2 intro is cutting through dem puny Eldar panzy, not 3 proppa Ork boyz at once as in the Space Marine video.

They're swinging them like swords there too... they just have better impact animation because it's CGI instead of real time in-game animation.

Of course they could add a small knock-back and sword slowdown in the enemy model effect to the chainswords to make them look cooler... we should totally post this as a suggestion on their official forums.
