Devil evolution

Unread postby GreatEmerald » 29 Aug 2009, 16:36

After the last week's evolution, where MM6 won by a small margin, we are back with the Devil evolution!

I vote for MM6 Winged devils, because they are the only ones that look less demon and more devil. And they can fly!

MM1 - Secret of the Inner Sanctum: Minor Devil, Arch Devil

MM2 - Gates to Another World: Minor Devil, Fire Devil, Devil King

MM3 - Isles of Terra: Major Devil

MM4 - Clouds of XEEN: Devil

MM6 - Mandate of Heaven: Devil spawn, Devil worker, Devil warrior

Devil Captain, Devil Master, Devil King

MM7 - For Blood and Honor: Devil Worker, Devil Warrior, Devil Captain

MM2 for me. When I look away from the computer, I get the strangest feeling that I'm being watched :D . And the design is just like: floating head with horns, which is kinda unique(everywhere else demons are always like ''fiery infernals'' )

MM6 winged guys for me. Like the other person said, they look more like devils rather than demons/apes/ogres/flying heads (wtf?). Also, they're pretty cool :D

Second would be the MM1 devils, for the same reason actually. Although they look more like gargoyles than devils, but they're close enough.

Also, the MM6 flying devils are the only ones I would run away from. All the others look like pushovers, but the MM6 flyers would rip your head off with their bare hands.
You'd think Darkmoor was a ghost town, but instead there's plenty of life among the dead.

Actually, you're right - they used the same sprite for both devils and gargoyles :D

I don't like any of them. They should have used the HoMM3 ones.

So the early M&M ones weren't Kreegans were they?

The Kreegan were introduced in MM6 - earlier there were only "normal" devils and demons in games.

However, nobody is really sure. You see, all the games start after the silence as fas as we know, so the Kreegan invasion should have started already and many planets should have their hives. So it's very possible that all of them are Kreegan.

Not really - VARN4, CRON and XEEN (MM1-2, 4-5) were spaceships, so if on them were Kreegan, then all ships will perish (as far as I know the Kreegan).
Also XEEN had a Guardian (well - 3 Guardians to be correctly :P), who should do something against Kreegan - but he do nothing. Not mention that both Corak and Sheltem visited all 3 ships and should somehow react for any sign of the Kreegan.
Terra was a planet but Sheltem still has his priority - and MAIN priority was "Protect the Terra" - that was why he want to return there. He was corrupted, yes, but he still obeyed his main order - Protect (his) planet.

And one more thing: "They travel, they land and them they CONQUER".
None of devils in MM3-5 seems to plan of conquering visited places (I don't relly played MM1-2 so I don't know all details about devils there).

Just my point of view.

They might have been scouts. Sending a Hive to a barren waste planet wouldn't be a good idea, so they needed those. And nobody reacted because, well, there are Kreegan scouts everywhere, you can't just kill every single one of them :)

From what we know about the Kreegan is that, they don't sending scouts. They just travel from planet to planet wth hive ships, using planets to breed until they can't support their numbers and go to other planets to repeat the cycle.

Hmm, could be... But then they waste their time attacking barren planets O_o That would explain why Enroth was attacked only 1500 years AS. That would also explain who are the "original demons".

Sure they send scouts. Otherwise, what was Daglathor supposed to be?

Who's Daglathor? Or, rather, from what game?

Hey, I'm the one who dug that up in the first place. :P And this "banished from heaven" stuff can't be anything but metaphorical; reminds me an awful lot of the uninformed Enrothians' "Kreegans are a punishment from the Gods" stuff from MM6.
