Looks very impressive!!! I will give it a try, in hope it isn't too difficult for me as a WOG novice to play..

edit: sorry, but I need help already: I can't start the map playing. Always get the error message:

ResourceManager:: GetBitmap 816 could not find the "bitmap" resource "h 133s.pcx" (and then after ok) "h 133.pcx"

Back to desktop screen. ;|

The zip contains two folders which need to be extracted in the coresponding directory. From maps to maps, from data to data. You need the pcx. and the jpg pics from there to be able to play the map.

It is specified in the read me.

Ok, I did so, and it worked so far: I could start, after the intro of the battle between PHILIPPE and Pausanias with his Hell Barons I got Alexander, which is teleported to the black gate, after visiting the tent. Then he reached the Oracle and visited it. After a text "Son of Zeus" I got the message "The gate of Pella opened for the new emperor." The castle is there, and then the screen shows a picture of a "Double Alexander" (like if two heroes visit another). I now hoped Alexander was teleported in front of the gates of Pella, but he remains in front of the Oracle, which tells: The oracle remains quiet. So I'm stuck and don't know how I should continue. There is no tavern in Pella and Alexander can't reach the town. ????

You did not play much wog isn't it? :D

He teleports only when I script it. Use your foots to reach pella. Return south and take the green whirlpool which brings you in front of Pella.

You will not have each turn scripted. The map is to be played like a regular SOD.

I hope you will enjoy wog. It is a wonderful tool to create interesting features not seen elsewhere.

I know you are a skilled veteran and you will not have problems to finish it. But the current version you have is not correct. The last event is not working, due to a HoMM bug, not script. I fixed it but map was not uploaded yet. It may take a day or two.


Thats because the last standing enemy hero is behind a border gate and he is blocked by it till you unlock. Unfortunatelly he will not move anymore after 8-9 months of play. And he HAS to attack the last day. Visit Maps4heroes , I wrote there what is happening.

Was that the reason, too, why I couldn't find any whirlpool? (A look into the editor showed only two ones, but not reachable for Alex. near the oracle. btw. What sense has the placed event near the left opal of magic?)

The green whirlpools are wog objects. Any wog player will identify them and use. They are like a two way monolith, nothing more. How that, not reachable? They can be used from the first day. Once the Oracle declared Alexander divine origin, you have to comeback south at starting point and take the whirlpool. Day 3 you are in front of Pella.

The event near the oracle is changing the monoliths exit on the map into other objects. You will not be notified when a script is triggering unless you have to..


The exits will not anymore be available for IA unless other events reset them to the original form.

Thats how I control IA invasions only in the areas Alexander conquered and all other areas are prohibited, despite the exits visibles.

ok, I've read all the comments on heroes4maps, and see that there is a player claudiu from Romania, who had the same problem. And Andrean's post (I know him as a member of Drachenwald), and finally I detected the "whirlpool" :D But I will wait some days and upload your update then.

Indeed, Claudiu considers a bug the fact that Alexander does not teleport. I do not know from where he had the idea that Alexander will teleport to Pella. There is no event that specifies that.

Andrean never had this problem.

Ok, i don't understand this. I found the "whirlpool" but when i step on it, nothing happens. In your walkthrough it says I'm soposed to teleport in front of pella or something and talk to the mage.
After i've spoken with the oracle, i went down, stepped on it (the horse cursor didnt change either to indicate that the place is more than just decoration) but nothing happens, he just stands there.

Oh, I know, I was as helpless as you, till I learned to find the spot a little bit to the northern edge of the pool, where the horse (cursor) jumps, find it and you will hear it's neighing. :)

Some screens and videos from the main fights until Agis hero on 1-2-7. Objective was to capture the 2 castle towns (Rome and Sparta) in the first week and flag the 4 cavalier dwellings to maximize heavy cavalry recruitment. Also angels available in Rome on first week too but without citadel.
