MMArchive v1.0.3 and other modding tools [April 14]

Unread postby GrayFace » 01 May 2008, 06:44

MMArchive v1.0.2
Fully-featured M&M and Heroes 3 archives editor! Supports all archive types except ".hwl".

These tools will help you make Might&Magic mods smaller, add files into archives etc.
LodCompare lets you compare two lod/vid/snd archives and see which files have changed. Then it lets you create a new archive containing only those files. Thus you can minimize size of a mod by distributing only this archive and merging it to user's archive using LodMerge.

LodMerge lets you merge two lod/vid/snd archives together or delete files from a single archive.
It will also help you in merging .vid and .snd archives from Heroes CD together with .vid archives in Data to make WoG play these videos.

LodAdd became a part of MMArchive.

LodCompare v1.2 changes:
[+] Lets you delete files from a single archive.
[-] There was an error if the original archive had more files than the modified.

LodMerge v1.0.3 changes:
[-] New files were added incorrectly.

Are these tools usable for all MM series games or for MM6 only?

They can operate on any M&M 6 - 8 or Heroes 3 archive files.

I'm still not quite clear on what these tools do. What do you mean make a mod smaller? Do they allow you to easier edit the event language?

No, LodsCompare extracts all files that were changed in the mod as a separate archive. Then LodsMerge installs mod archives to the game.

An update of all tools. Now LodAdd is also here. I've fixed a critical bug that occurred when adding completely new files.

MMArchive is released.
It's something like mm8leveleditor and MM7View.

The link leads to Lod Compare. Is it what was desired?

Is this the powers-of-two issue?

Is it also fixed for Autolod?

No, this is MMArchive-only issue. It can show monsters with their in-game palettes and it didn't work on some cadres.
The power-of-two is a limitation of the game.

Another update. This time it's due to power of two :) I added a check for it, but check for power of 4 instead of power of 2.

An update. Version 1.0.3.
Fixed bugs:
[-] Double click on file resulted in an error
[-] Pressing any key while extension filter is focused triggered an exit

Can any body teach me those terms in MM6's file Mapstats?
Like what is M1, M2, M3? And what is Dif and Appear#?
