The Pointless but funny links-thread

Very few of my friends think that Julia Roberts is pretty. Her mouth is to big and her legs are to thin. But she's a pretty good actress. She does a good job of ACTING like a 'Pretty Woman'.
I like the new "Dove Campaign". Dove brand skin care products have been running an ad campaign of "Beautiful at any Age" and have women of all different ages and sizes showing off their beautiful skin. It's a great campaign aimed at women like me - the aging Baby Boomer generation. In a Mass Media Market that insists that only the young and the beautiful are important, to the point of making us older, heavier women feel like we might as well just give up and EAT that chocolate cake because no man will ever look at us again - Dove made the Brilliant Move to tap into the HUGE market of 'less than perfect' women which make up the vast majority of the buying power in the USA. Genius! Pure Genius!
Not really Funny or Pointless - but a linky to sort of stay on topic:

AND! You have to 'see the movie' about how 'Our' - meaning American men and women - have had 'Our' image of beauty distorted.

This clip shows how an average, pretty girl gets transformed into a 'super model' with make up and computer assistance.

While I agree with your message; I am sorry but I find that picture in poor taste and very insensitive. It ridicules a group of people who can not help the way they are. The Special Olympics portrays one of the good things we do as humans. Their motto is more on the lines everyone wins. DL's banishment also was for his poor judgment, much like that of those who did that picture. Not to mention the obscenity at the bottom of the photo this in itself should spur a moderator to take some editorial action.ThunderTitan wrote: I'm good at that...
And some food for thought regarding my opinion on arguing on the internet (and prob DL's too, which is why he got banned n the end)

It's kind of an old saying that's been bouncing around the Net for over a decade. Yeah, it's pretty Non-PC, but I wouldn't run someone out of the forum on a rail for re-posting a very old joke, even one that is tasteless.

Agreed deleting the picture was sufficient, I see no reason for taking any further action, unfortunately his rebuttal post (also deleted) seemed to indicate he just doesn't get it. At the high school where I teach there are several downs syndrome kids in the special ed section, and they do not deserve being the brunt of others jokes for a condition that they had no control over.ScarlettP wrote:Yeah, it's pretty Non-PC, but I wouldn't run someone out of the forum on a rail for re-posting a very old joke, even one that is tasteless.

Despicable.
But I've dragged this off topic, so here's something incredibly pointless: Human Tetris.

Yup, i've mocked the poor special ed kids by comparing them to people on the internet... i hereby apologize, i in no way think people with mental disabilities are as bad as people on the internet.Omega_Destroyer wrote: Did he put up a picture mocking the Special Olympics?
