Heroes 3: Favorite Warlock

Unread postby UndeadHalfOrc » 29 Jun 2008, 01:00

As with Overlords, lots of winners here to choose from. No less than 3 of them start with level 4 spells.

Deemer is one of two heroes who start with 3 picks of secondary skills (the other being Uland the Druid)

I'll go with the "unofficial" Implosion specialist: Malekith. Highest potential spell damage in the game, of all heroes.

Well, Malekith and Jeddite are the only two with both useful specialities and non-lousy skills, so for main heroes, they're the ones.

But here we also find the game's best secondary: Alamar. If you have a few learning stones and perhaps a chest to spare, you'll have resurrection on your main heroes before anyone else.

I also like Deemer and Jaegar. Especially deemer forms an excellent (& advanced) Scout.

But my first choice will be....

...humpf, I don't have favorite here. My first is almost exclusively an Overlord, but if so, it will be Alamar (aka MysticX in FH).

I prefer Jeddite and Seppi. Iny my opinion SHE is the best secondary - Jeddite comes with Resurrect anyway, while Seppi gives 1 Crystal each turn, while Intelligence makes sure that she will have a lot of mana available with only a few additional levels.
ZZZzzzz....

Alamar - Jeddite has same speciality and no useless (IMO) scholar skill and Sephinroth had excelent speciality as supporting hero but after all, Alamar has some "magic" in his name for me (and he was in H2 too and maybe in H1 also as one of four lords fighting for control of Enroth).

Malekith: The power of casting spells is really great with him, so that why i choose him :)

I voted Alamar, the Resurrection-kit (Jeddite seems to just want to justify that he knows it :)).
The only other Warlock I might consider main hero material is Jaegar since Warlocks focus more on Power than Knowledge. Mysticism sucks as a sole secondary, but the special makes it quite good IMO.

Deemer with a decent batch of Harpy Hags is a great scout annex minesweeper early on, and if he picks up Scholar along the way all the better.
Of course Sephinroth is always welcome. That's about it for the warlocks.

Jeddite for resurrection and great pic. Malekith is a strong catch-up, and the best hero for armageddon tactics in the game. Dungeon gives him armageddon and black dragons, and his specialty gives him POWER. Jeddite is more useful generally however, and if you're going for armageddon tactics with a warlock, chances are you won't even need that extra damage from sorcery.

Sephinroth for secondary.

Voted Jeddite.

I really dig his appearence, the background story of his and most of all,
that awesome specialty. Resurrection is one of the most powerful spells in all of Heroes III. When combined with the warlock's tendency of gaining fast more spell power, we have a clear winner here.

Alamar. Resurrection+Scholar=awesome. Hit up a couple Learning Stones and you can pass around one of the top spells in the game quickly and easily. That said, I wouldn't think twice about hiring any of them except Jaegar and Geon.

Not to mention the Dungeon special dwelling, Battle Scholar Academy, that gives 1000 experience to any hero.

Yeah but if my main hero already has Resurrection, then I don't need to get it off a 2ndary, do I? :D You're not going to have that many heroes to have the power and the mana and the battle situations to all have to have Resurrection to make a difference, and if you do, 1 of them can go and pick up Scholar anyway.

If you count on being able to get the other spell somewhere else, then a specialization on Meteor Shower is probably slightly more useful than on Resurrection. However, if there's no guarantee you can get the other spell, then Resurrection is the only spell that, well, resurrects. And if you have Deemer, you probably want to pray you can grab Alamar too. But alas, you can only pick one for starting hero.

Especially with the Dungeon army, the troops are powerful and versatile, but they are very expensive compared to, say, the castle, so you actually get less bang for your bucks and preserving your troops throughout the game is very important.
So I'm actually going to go with Jeddite.
