What town will you stick with?
There have been polls like which town do you feel is overpowered, but I've never seen one which asks the more simple question - what town are you going to play with? Since SF was scrapped, a lot of people have reconsidered and we have new opinions, so I think a poll to see which faction is more popular would be in order
Of course, do comment on your particular choice.
Since I'm first - I went with dungeon, no big revilation. I've always played with the warlock in the latter series (even those purple fat dragons in H1) and grew somewhat attached to them. The strong spellcasting coupled with mythological units I really like (minotaur, hydra, dragon) made it a pretty clear choice for me from the start. The evil twist is just another bonus, a town with creatures like these, how can you see them in a goodie-two-shoes role?
In H5 the dark elves join them, but I see that as an upgrade, why have those ugly troglodytes, harpies and beholders when I can have femme fatales

I'll stick with the wood elves. They are pretty cool and not some whimps like the Havens holy bravado.
Have always loved the forest towns (Sorceress, Rampart, Preserve) and now Sylvan. They have such cool units, nice music and wonderful atmosphere, thanks to the woods and mountains.
The Unicorn have been the one that have survived through all the games and Im glad to see them back. The phoenixes are yet again thrown out of the town (cant let them burn down the woods with their fiery body=) and replaced with the green dragon and its cousin the golden emerald dragon. The pixies and sprite have return, the dwarves have propably moved to create their own town in the mountains. The centaurs may yet again have joined the barbs. The druids have returned from their meditation vacation in the woods.Th walking trees now known as treeants have joined again instead of their dendroid cousins to defend the woods from danger. The elves plays a bigger role this time with an indian, avenger-of-the-woods attitude which can serve them well.
Short said the Sylvan rocks!!

Inferno.
Because:
- it has the coolest hero
- it is the most cheerful of the sides. There's nothing like winning a battle with imps in your army
- gating and the hero's special skills are the most tactical skills of all sides imo. I enjoy having a great variety of options in battle.

Sylvan - for old times sake. Nature town is always been my #1 favourite. ...But when Might faction finally arrives, I could change to that for Clan creating-purposes.
I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

I've had a thing with Sylvan ever since I first read their history and looked for resemblances with the elves in Tolkien's writings, so right about now (without having played at all) I guess I'll stick with them mostly.
I've had a negative thing with Necropolis ever since I found out that one of their undead heroes is called Vladimir... It'll be interesting to beat a hero with a name so close to mine, but at least I'll know he's over with. So, Necropolis (generally) and Vladimir (particularly): enemies to (un)death!

Won't it be a bit hard to judge what faction you will stick with before you've played quite a bit? I'm a necro-person really, but in H4 I like Asylum better as Necropolis in H4 isn't to my liking. I think the same might be the case with H5, that I won't be to happy with the necropolis-faction. Mainly because the description mentions worship of dragons and mother spiders and other daft things I don't think necromancers should care for.

Eh, sorry Gaidal, didn't think of it at the time because most of the people I know and play with have one faction that has grown onto them
Ethric, well asuming we all know how each faction will work and we all tried it in the open beta or demo, imo it's safe to pick one. When I get the retail, nothing is going to surprise me with either one of the 6 factions, no big hidden element that has been kept away during the beta test.

Would you mind if I added the option "None specific"? I don't think you'd be able to yourself...Infiltrator wrote:Eh, sorry Gaidal, didn't think of it at the time because most of the people I know and play with have one faction that has grown onto them

I think that's to avoid situations were the author edits a poll and scews the results- as seems to happen rather often at the Ubi forums. Added the option and voted for it, anyway.Infiltrator wrote:Not at all. I actually tried it but as you said, I'm not allowed to.
