Voodoo Extreme has a good report on Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, straight from the Game Convetion in Germany. The game will take place in Ashan, the new world of Might and Magic, and will feature a young hero called Sareth. Sareth has been trained to battle the prophetic Dark Messiah either as a warrior, a mage or an assassin. The game will include 12 missions, 40 weapons (including swords, bows, staffs and daggers) and dozens of spells. The VE3D contains references to a subtle layer of role-playing gameplay, but so far it appears limited to getting experience in order to obtain new powers.

The most surprising news is definitely the multiplayer mode: "Enlist with the humans or the undead, and choose among four character classes. Prepare to battle with up to 32 players in several online modes, ranging from simple deathmatch to the revolutionary Evolution mode, which will allow you to gain experience and new equipment across dynamic online campaigns." Ubisoft is trying to recreate something similar to the original scope of Legends of Might and Magic, before it was considerably reduced. But it sounds like it could be fun: I will finally be able to use my good reflexes to defeat the invincible Heroes gamers out there -- assuming they will be interested in Dark Messiah, that is.
