To the certain extend. But not too much, no need to worry.ScarlettP wrote:So, is everyone with over 15K posts going to be "Stefaniouss"?

Well, I am actually thinking about a substitute for happiness. In light of my first idea, happiness is just a hormone secretion. So, in unhappy times, one could just compensate it with a medicine.Probably not. Modern people have no time at all so it would be a time saver not to have to actually spend time with people. But I wonder whether it would be like ordinary drugs, where you have to have more and more to keep up the feeling? dontknow
But people would evolve into being socially illeterate and that wouldn't be good for society nor for the business life
Imagine a world where everyone would be unconditionally happy. No more miserable valentines day for no one...
In a way, we would be more productive than we are today, which is good for society and business life.
Shedding some more lights into your thinking. Althoug hormones support happines, same like unhapiness - they are just body dope. They are effect not the cause.okrane wrote:In light of my first idea, happiness is just a hormone secretion.
Which is important because that makes your thinking real, how you associated it (bodily) is other factor though.
But both these feelings exist genuinely without the hormones. Just like equation result - and nothing can beat that in being more realistic.

I just imagined walking on the street, and seeing everybody with a big smile... a Big Fake Smile.okrane wrote:Well, I am actually thinking about a substitute for happiness. And some advertising...
'Got fired? Take a Happiness Pill! Got divorced? Take a Happiness Pill! Got bankrupt? Take a Happiness Pill? Your child died? Take two Happiness Pills!'
I don't know if I would like to live in such a world.

They are the effect yes, the effect of causes we already know, like friends, loved ones, etc. But, what matters is that we need our friends and loved ones to obtain this effect. So, no, these feelings do not exist without the hormones. They are the hormones.Pol wrote:Shedding some more lights into your thinking. And basically, what I'm saying is, obtaining the effect through the traditional way was the only way known, what if, we could find alternate ways to get it.
@Muszka
Well, why not? It's clear that unhappiness is the main reason for all evil in this world. This reminds me of that silly film Equilibrium.
It won't be a fake smile, you're missing my point. We are accustomed to saying that happiness in genuine only because we have the things we need, like friends, love etc. But these things are what we need in order to get those hormones. So, if we obtain those hormones some other way I find it not fake. Fake it would be if we were miserable inside and pretend we're not. But actually we would be genuinely happy inside.
In order to understand the meaning of the happiness pill we would have to ask ourselves: why do we truly want friends, a wife, sex, fun. I don't think it would be that bad, as long as there are no side effects.
Note that this is not a cure for sorrow, as sorrow is also a hormone secretion. It is mainly a substitute for our needs.

It seems 15K gives just a one-day-ticket to an unqiue title.asandir wrote:and I lost my title ....![]()
that's not good, can you guys come up with something else?
That seems so religious... I never really liked relgion.Ethric wrote:The admins giveth, and the admins taketh away...
@okrane
maybe that the smile won't be fake, but I don't think unhappiness is the main reason for all the evil. And if there were such pills, it will be a matter of money, so those who really need it, either won't have chance to buy, either won't have money.
But as an idea in itself seems good, I'm only sceptic with the practical adaptation.
P.S.: I liked Equilibrium, though it's not original.
