Ok there is a bill being considered to make melting pennies and nickels illegal. Why? Because the value of the metal in them is more then the face value of the coin...(1.12 cents for a penny, 6.99 c for a nickel). There will be a $10,000 fine and shipments of coins to outside america will be limited to $100 dollars worth of the coins (or a fine will be levied, perhaps another 10 grand?).

Wasn't there a Monty Python sketch on this?
Before you criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you'll be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes.

that's hilarious Myst :D
Italian village basks in reflected glory
Sun deprived people might consider moving to the northern Italian village of Viganella, where residents are now basking in sunlight thanks to a giant mirror.

The village's 185 residents are normally plunged in chilly darkness during winter months as surrounding mountains cut off direct sunlight.

Viganella Mayor Pierfranco Midali says he has been looking forward to the innovation since an architect friend began pondering ways to help the sun-challenged hamlet.

"I've waited for this moment for seven years," he told Italy's ANSA news agency.

The village now has a towering mirror measuring eight metres by five metres installed on the flank of one bluff.

The mirror is computer-driven to follow the sun's path and cast its rays back on Viganella.

The Mayor says the project, which cost almost 100,000 euro ($A167,000), has spawned envy from Swiss and other Italian mountain villages.

"It wasn't easy, we had to find the proper material, learn abut the technology and especially find the money," he said.

I don't know what to say.... :D.

167,000 dollars so 185 residents can get sunlight (don't get me wrong, I'm glad for them...I just think it's a bit...excessive).

Someone get the Battle Rifle...we're going idiot hunting :devious:.

Seriously now...come on! $75,000,000 for a game? (I don't even want to know the break-even point for that game's profits).

I can see it now...subscriptions starting at $100 per month....

They'll have to rename it:
" The Post Apocalyptic Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous".

Now, THAT is bizzare. :D

Well, if that's true, then it explains a lot :D (mostly why XBOX 360 games cost 60-65 dollars on release and take forever to drop).

That can't be true though...can it? (well, actually it's mathematically probable, but...wow...that's a huge number :ill:).

I miss the good old days of gaming :) (back when M:tG was the only Trading Card Game and 16-bit gaming was the Next Big Thing :D).

Tell me about it (the American dollar is nosediving in terms of monetary value :D, and even so, there are many countries that are worse off). The Euro is doing relatively well though, at least from what I've heard.

to get back on track
Traffic ticket helps elderly man find car
A 78-year-old German man needed the help of a traffic warden who had given him a ticket to find his car after a day of fruitless searching.

German police in Kaiserslautern, south of Frankfurt, say the man parked his car in the town centre before an appointment with his tax adviser and then forgot where he had left it.

After wandering aimlessly for hours, he turned to the police for help.

Authorities searched in vain until late at night.

"We then sent him to a hotel and resumed the search in the morning. We asked our traffic wardens whether they had any clue about the car," a spokeswomen for Kaiserslautern police said.

"Fortunately, one woman remembered putting a ticket on his car."
