Movies
To be honest, I haven't seen the sequels, I am thinking of getting them though. Have any of you seen The Evil Dead? I saw that for my first time a few months ago, and it was quite a good movie for the low budget that it was.
If you like Gory movies, check out Riki-Oh. That movie is absolutely crazy.

You mean "classical gore movies" actually like the Nightmare on Elm Street and other cheesy gore "horror" movies.Old_Man wrote:I have got a lot of DVD's recently. One of my favoured ones that I got must be Hell Raiser. If you haven't seen it and you like Horror movies, then I strongly recommend it. Some of the effects are a bit cheesy, such as the what happens at the end, and it gets quite gory at parts, but it all adds to the entertainment that this movie brings. If you haven't seen it then I recommend it.
I don't like them that much, even though for example I like "horror" movies that have that atmosphere, and not just gore. Jeepers Creepers is an example. It's more like a monster-movie you know, much better than the cheesy gore "horror" movies like the classics, I never liked those anyway
Maybe I prefer a bit of horror with some thrills at times, and some monster flicks, but that's just me. This movie had too much "classic" horror cheese. Not to my taste.
All humans do is to go to a place, bountiful of nature, and live there. Then the human multiplies and sucks all the wonders there. They move to the next. There is one thing that works the same way as that: a virus.
Hehe. I want to go and see Evil Dead 2, it really sounds like a great movie. Have you ever seen the movie, Troll 2? It must be one of the worst i have seen, but it is just hilarious seeing how bad it is. Which is the reason that I got it. I was mainly laughing through the whole thing. Acting is poor, script is poor, costumes are poor, everything is poor, but very funny.

The Evil Dead is still on the index in Germany - it can be shown only in a 2 minutes shorter version. Initially, when it was published, it was no problem, but shortly after it came out as a video the trouble started.Old_Man wrote:To be honest, I haven't seen the sequels, I am thinking of getting them though. I'll never forget the "video evening" we arranged then. I was a student at the time and lived in a big apartment with a couple of people and sometimeswe made movie evenings.
The Evil Dead was something special because out of the 8 or s people that started watching it only 2 watched it to the end.
It took a holiday in Britain to get the movie for good. Sam Raimi made himseld a name with the movie and I consider it a piece of horror movie art.
You just got to love the pencil scene - and the general way you are surprised in the movie.
ZZZzzzz....

I know there aren't a lot of girls here on the forum but those of you that are here are looking for a good romantic film, I've got one for ya
It's even got some fantasy to it. It's called "Penelopé" and it's an amazingly sweet story with some really great kissing scenes!
It's the typically "girl looking for true love"-story, except this girl was born with a pig snout. It's great, just watch it
For those of you girls that prefer the scenario to be set in somewhat mideval times and aren't afraid of a bit of very modern music and wierd comedy, I recommend "Virgin Territory"

Hmm.. I was a kid when I watched that for the first time. It was still big time to get a video tapes than, and so I watched both 1 and 2 at the same night. I agree it's funny if you look at it with mature eyes, but believe me I had nightmares because of it. I watched it many times after and even enjoyed it. It was a good movie for his time, and I for me it was the beginning of horror along with Halloween. Later I watched the 3rd part too, but than I was too big to be horrifying.Angelspit wrote:Evil Dead 2 is better than the first, but it's definitely more funny than scary. As for Army of Darkness, it contains more adventure and fight scenes (and again, a lot of humor).
All in all I agree JJ that it's a piece of art and a mileage point. Neither can I ever forget the sentence: "I wanna get you!, I wanna get you!"

What are those two minutes, out of curiosity? The tree-rape scene?Jolly Joker wrote:The Evil Dead is still on the index in Germany - it can be shown only in a 2 minutes shorter version. @Muzka: I still remember my first contact with horror. I was just a kid playing alone in my aunt's living room while the adults were discussing and playing cards in the dinner room nearby. The TV was on and it must have been quite late because Halloween started playing, along with its famous theme song. After listening to it for a couple of seconds, I ran to the TV set in a hurry (there were no remote controls back then) to turn it off... I still remember it well even though it was more than 25 years ago.
That's too pornographic, and less horrifying....AS wrote:What are those two minutes, out of curiosity? The tree-rape scene?
As for Halloween... you mean this song.... darn.... I liked to be a kid you know... I got nostalgic..
Actually my first contact with horror was a parody, but I can't remember it's name... still it frightened me a lot. But I never tried to turn off the TV, I was obsessed with movies even from the beginning, maybe it was because of the regime I grown up in.

The key to a horror movie is to watch it at night, alone, and if possible with a 5.1 surround system. Also when watching so old movie you must consider that it's nearly 30 years old

Or a virtual surround systemMuszka wrote:...and if possible with a 5.1 surround system

Sure. It only matters to frighten you like hell
