Lich differs from cosmos to cosmos. If he has one and it is intact, he can return to "life".

On Nival and Heroes
If Nival does make H6, I'm fine with it as long as they improve the graphics (less cartoony -- didn't we get rid of cartoony graphics after H2?), and have better gameplay.

I'm a new player of HoMMV here. This is the first time I played HoMM. Although I know there are other predecessors of this game. I find HoMMV very amusing. And I enjoy playing it.
But I still wonder why some gamer are disappointed with HoMMV. I really don't know since I cannot compare the past HoMM with HoMMV. A friend told me that HoMMIV is better, coz Heroes can fight with each other. I also wonder what Nival did wrong that made some gamers dislike it.

There are a lot of reasons for that one. One of the popular ones is that it deviated from Heroes 4 and went back to the old style of play that took the Hero out of combat. Another is that some felt Nival focused too much on graphics and the game play suffered. There are a lot of reasons why fans were disappointed.
As for me, I was a bit bummed that the Hero wasn't on the field anymore. After playing a lot of Heroes 5, I've grown to appreciate the new system.

And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

I see. Honestly, I liked HoMMV because of its graphics. And about the gameplay, I also liked it coz, maybe, its new to me. But I think, eventhough I never played HoMMIV, the hero being on the battlefield would be more amusing.
Anywyas if there would be HoMMVI, I hope there would be some good developments so some of the fans would get back to liking HoMM series again![wink ;)](/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

That sums up a lot of my disappointment, do not misunderstand if this was the first one of the series that I played I probably would have liked it a lot more. Since I have played all of them my expectations were very high, probably too high for any game to meet. Also for me one of the most enjoyable parts is designing and making campaigns. The H-IV editor was not as powerful as the H-V editor, but it evolved into one almost anyone could use, where the H-V editor is very difficult with the mapmaker having to be good at writing computer scripts.Omega_Destroyer wrote:There are a lot of reasons for that one. Before, I was looking for HoMMIV because HoMMV have high requirements. But our local video games store doesn't sell them anymore. Heroes V is the only HoMM they can show me.
I never tried the Map Editor yet. I think I should take a look on it.

You'll have to get them online. That's the only way I was able to get Heroes 3 complete. I have no idea why I never bothered to just buy Shadows of Death years ago.

Having the hero in the battlefield was one of the features I disliked most about IV.
Re: On Nival and Heroes
From everything I've read that was the most divisive aspect of H-IV. It seems to be about a 50/50 split, which meant a large group was going to be disappointed with H-V no matter what UBI did.Moragauth wrote:Having the hero in the battlefield was one of the features I disliked most about IV.

*Sigh*
H 4 was the game that got the "community" split for good. 4 changed the game drastically. It should be mentioned that Ubival made a survey prior to starting the design of 5 and the result was that a large majority of those who took part (which would have been those with enough interest in the series to follow things on the web) voted against the key features of Heroes 4. The fact that Heroes 4 was a rushed product and lacked in some key parts wasn't speaking in favor of it either.
It was clear, though, that the finished product would create dissent one way or another, even though Ubival found ways to increase hero activities immensely short of making them vulnerable themselves.
