I had this urge... I used to eat this porridge thing when I was a kid, it's really made just from butter, flour and milk, but I loved it. It's made exactly like the cheese component in lasagna, only without the cheese. I used to get this from my grandma, and I loved it. Now that my grandma is gone, I'm pretty much the only one in the family who can make this just perfectly without lumps.

Once in a while, every once in a while, I need a bowl of this, when I feel like... well, a kid.

Looks like Cream of Wheat.

Put sugar in it. Much better that way.

The recipe is really simple, but it's hard to get right.

1. Melt butter.
2. Add flour and stir with a whip. It should be wet still, not hardened into lumps, so don't use too much flour.
3. Add milk and keep stirring.
4. Keep adding milk slowly and don't let it get too thin. Add some flour and milk on intervals until you have enough in the pot.
5. Stir all the time, stop (finished) when the consistency is porridge-like.

T-bone steak, nice and juicy, with some suitable vegetables, potato sallad and garlic bread. :yummy:

ahhhh, that's the very best way, making the garlic butter, then liberally smearing it over the bread ....

Yeah, you know: bake the bread, make the garlic butter from butter and fresh garlic, and apply the butter "liberally" to the bread.
