Let me guess deductible $500, total damage 650. :(

@Vlad -

See two posts up - I was sideswiped.

@jeff

I haven't gotten the estimate yet but it's clearly going to be one of those borderline cases. Looks awful but won't be worth the 600 dollars or so it's going to cost to fix. And yes by deductable is 500 dollars. :sad:

well a lass hit our car a week or so ago, but she actually came into the doc's surgery and told us about it, got here details etc, now just gotta get a quote or two .... luckily it soesn't come out of my insurance, it's a $200 premium, but that's more then I wanna pay

I'm pretty sure DL did hit 10k posts before getting reset, but I won't swear to it because he's been banned since January if memory serves and I'm just not sure it all adds up ....

however I am also pretty sure that K mentioned that the last remaining special rank was around the 1700-1799 area .... or there abouts

Unpredictable things happen, I wouldn't worry about that.

But that's the thing, it's like clockwork, it always happens.... like on multiple choice tests, if i'm unsure between 2 i always pick the wrong one, always, even if i change them a few times. Life hates me and i love her for it.

That seems to happen with some people to the point that it's too striking to think of it as a coincidence :D The good thing is that I'm usually on the right side.

Not sure if there is a thread for this, so here goes. Just watched a sci-fi movie, where somebody used the 'universal' language of mathmatics. There are a few things wrong with that, so lets get too it.

First you would have to assume that they used the 0-9 system. As well as all the things like Pi, ect ect ect. Second, you would have to assume the have a way of translating this into a pattern that we would recognize. Now lets assume the first is true. We then have to assume their math follows our reasoning. For all we know they have came accross a totally different way of doing math we can not even begin to fathom. Or our math may be to 'complex' to them. Now lets say by some fluke of nature they not only use the 0-9 system, but have the same exact mathmatical progression we do. Then we go to translating that. For instance lets say we associate 1 with A, they could associate 1 with XIA or something totally different.

So in conclusion, the chances of math being a universal language is so low that it can not be calculated (a bit of a pun there). It is naive to think that any species we encounter will have our numbers and math.

Math is universal language, that's going from geometry. And that's describing our world. So it will work.

Some stupid implification in the movies is other thing.

And it's not really depending on decimal set, neither on the ¶ directly. Common language is always depending on your enviroment and all various enviroments are having at least one thing same. See that's math :D

From other note: I'm using CPT and my tablet stopped to working here now, nothing helped it looks like bad version of library somewhere in win ... so much time lost...
:tired:

Edit: I removed some trash software, and recalibrated after x-time and it started to work. Now, if I only know why it had stopped before.

It's not our math or reasoning 2x2 will always be 4 and lne will be 1. The universe uses numbers and formulas we just have decoded some. Now as for more or less complex another civilization may not have advanced to the point of say logarithms or not use this specific formula or may have found a more elegant and smart solution. The only case mathematics might not have been universal would be in a place where the same laws(physics etc) do not exist but that's purely hypothetical.
