Ironically my promotion was what made me a target for the cut backs. Sucks huh? "Non-essential Management will be downsized." Lovely ain't it?

Of course, downsizing. Typical. More like we-want-our-short-term-profile-to-look-good. They never seem to catch on that it almost never seems to fix the real problem.

Well there 'were' three places that paid decently. The place I am working for now, a car part place that is being closed, and a package delivery place. That place has back breaking labor, and my back is already shot. Other then that around here it is rather dismal. Still I should be able to get something with the excellent references I will be recieving.

Good luck to you Misty. The only advice I can offer is to stay out of Michigan.

I'm guessing their unemployment rates are less than stellar.

Highest unemployment rate in the nation, has some of the most dangerous cities in the country, by next year the state will be about 1.6 billion in debt, and the Lions.

7.2% unemployment if my sources are correct, that's not awful though

it's sitting at 3.7% here in WA

It's the budget that has me concerned. A couple of my family members are teachers and education is always one of the hardest hit areas. Additionally, getting a job with a state agency may prove to be very challanging once I pass the bar.

The unemployment % can also be a little bit misleading. See this.

I know it can, it's one of those dodgy stats, but it's a comparative indicator

In a word, Detroit. The influx of forgien made cars has killed 'Motor City'. A family can now purchase a 3 bedroom house in Detroit for less money than a four seater car built there. Why? You can't jolly well drive the house OUT of Detroit.
